One Giant Leap for Mankind. Hard to believe it's been 39 years ago today that man first walked on the moon. An event that I remember like it was yesterday, sitting in front of the old black and white TV in total awe.

Re: One Small Step for Man

I was at sea in the Western Pacific and remember hearing it over the ship's radio patched into the network feed.

Re: One Small Step for Man

Wow!!!I remember sitting and watching absolutly spellbound over what was happening...Same as you George..black and white sitting there with my parents watching it all

Re: One Small Step for Man

Watched it at my girlfriend's house in the wee hours of the morning. She was asleep. I married her anyway.

Re: One Small Step for Man

Were you living in Europe at the time? The landing was at 16:17 hours edt and the lunar walk approx 6 hours after at around 22:20 hours edt.

Unfortunately I didn't watch it on TV as I was busy enough taking my first ever breath at that moment..

It was the lunar walk I was referring to. My memory was that I stayed up pretty late - with no one else awake to share the excitement.

We kept our kids, then 3 and 6, up the whole night just so they could see history in the making. Don't think they appreciated it then, but I've heard both of them tell friends that they saw it live. It was, and still is, one of the most amazing technological feats of all time. Right up there with Lindberg.

Re: One Small Step for Man

it must have occurred in the 60's because I don't remember it at all....too bad...it seems like it would have been quite the historic event to experience lucid
