Sorry about the title..autocorrect thinks it is smarter than I am..Bonjour, mes amis! We have arrived to a fabulous welcome and giant upgrade from Le Guanahani (merci, Martein, Le manager❤️) but my bags are currently partying somewhere in SXM ( at a nice rum bar, if they are smart), but Vincent says 60 bags didn’t make it. Our PIV special guy, Reinaldo, came to get us at the Transit when we walked out with a big smile and hug, marched us directly to the security where you put your luggage through the machine, (we were the only ones they let do it) and took us directly to Winair gates (do not pass GO 😁), got us both on the next Winair flight (merci), saving us about an hour wait, but les baggages are livin’ la vida loca in SXM and we are expecting them tomorrow, which was a minor annoyance for me who fully believes in redundant systems (you know, like 3 separate sets of makeup, dresses, 4 pairs of shoes, bathing suits, coverups..), unlike DD who has exactly no extra anything..🙄🙄🙄. Well, as one of my friends says, “Not my pig, not my farm!”

So in spite of that, we had a really lovely dinner at Le Guanahani after seeing old employees and making friends with the new ones..the menu isn’t really exciting , more like a steak house with fish with sauce or steak with sauce but a new addition were these adorable French bread rolls with a map of SBH on them! Yes, I ate two, and DD had a sort of whole grain herby mini baguette which he loved, but it is against my principles to eat bread with herbs, purist that I am. ( Don’t mess with my chocolate, either!) I put good salt butter on my rolls, too..can’t pass up French butter. I had a very large portion of Seared tuna with champagne and hibiscus beurre blanc (not a lot of great sauce choices for tuna there) but the tuna was perfect with a couple of pretty asparagus. If you order tuna, share! DD went for Chateaubriand with Béarnaise, very conventional and I think they are cooked sous-vide and then they put them on the grill. He said it was good, but I don’t like sous-vide cooked foods, so I was happy eating my tuna. We both had an excellent mai tai cocktail with passionfruit, a personal favorite.

Well, not sure when I slept last and since our gym clothes didn’t make it, I guess we have to skip a day and head to Super U in the morning after what should be a wicked good breakfast. If hiking up Le G hill from the beach/resto on stilettos counts as workout, (it is really steep! ), I’m good! Bonsoir for now and pray for my bags..who knows how hard they are out partying tonight…😁

Beautiful photos, Gina...you're always well cared for at Le G! So glad you made it safe and sound, even without the bags. Vincent's got your back...he and his team are the best. Enjoy your time in paradise and most of all, Bon anniversaire!! 🥂🍾💕

Les valises viennent d’arriver! Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Well, La Princesse du Super U just used her waiting time to make a haul (filled 2 giant bags..duffel will be stuffed…de rigueur of course. ). Some of my usual things were in short supply after the holidays but got the essentials! Rum, passion fruit juice, cosmetics, and my beloved coffee (décaf oblige). Only a little embarrassing to check out but I always explain that I am hauling it back for a year or forever, as we never know. So I am always surprised and enchanted as to what is available and I have not even made it to L’Oasis! The adorable cotton grocery bags are still available as well as the plastic coated one. This year the cotton ones come not only in blue denim color but rosy orange! Great souvenir and little gifts (for myself!). Oh yes, I bought myself a King Cake, too! My first real one. Hope I get the fève! (Ok, who am I kidding…I’m eating the whole thing..)! On va à la plage. I think Chez Gus is tonight! À tout à l’heure!
