COVID-19: NO MORE TESTING TO GET TO SINT MAARTEN FROM SAINT-BARTH & by Pauline Sauthier 08/01/2021
In transit or visiting, it is no longer necessary to be tested when traveling from Saint-Barthélemy in Sint Maarten. As of January 3, PCR and antigen tests are no longer required for people from countries classified as low risk by local health authorities. Saint-Barthélemy is one of them. Concretely, if you take a flight from Saint-Barth to Paris with a connection at Princess Juliana airport, you will not need a PCR test. An antigen is sufficient because this is what the French authorities require. On the other hand, if you are doing Paris-Saint-Barthélemy via Princess Juliana, there, an RT-PCR test of less than 120 hours will be required or an antigen test carried out at most 48 hours before the flight. For antigen testing, only four brands are allowed: Becton Dickinson (BD) Verito r Plus, the Abbott Panbio, the Abott BinaxNow and the Roche / SD Biosensor F. The same applies to passengers arriving by sea.
Another novelty: from January 11, Covid-19 insurance will be compulsory for all travelers arriving in Sint Maarten, with the exception of residents, transit passengers, flight crews and French nationals. The rates for this insurance range from $ 10 to $ 30 depending on age. In addition, all passengers arriving in the Dutch part of the island must complete an online health authorization at least 12 hours before their arrival. andynap,
Thanks for this great information!!! Is this correct?

SXM will require a neg test if you have been in a high risk country within 14 days so visitors to SBH that are coming for a week or less than 14 days still require a neg test on the way back.

  1. Travelers who reside in a low risk country but have visited a high-risk country in the 14 days prior to departing to Sint Maarten, must also have a rt-PCR or antigen test for the SARS-COV-2 virus performed within 120 respectively 48 hours prior to departure to Sint Maarten (last leg in case of connecting flights).

so St Barth has a huge spike in cases and they cancel the test to go to SXM, sounds like they are no so smart...
also why would any airline allow people who are potentially positive to fly?

It could be that the new rule was in the works before the spike and could be revised shortly

We fly from SBH to SXM using the in transit route during Thanksgiving week and weren't required to test for the SBH to SXM leg.
