Le Cheval Blanc offers a media chef for its La Case restaurant

It is a size of the kitchen but also a television character. Chef Jean Imbert will be in charge of this season's La Case restaurant at the Cheval Blanc Isle de France hotel in Flamands. Made famous by his victory in the show Top Chef in 2012, he then led his own culinary program with the talented Norbert Tarayre, participated in Beijing Express, and presented on France 2 "Who will be the next great pastry chef?". He announced his arrival in Saint-Barthélemy on his account Instagram, where he explains savor "the fact that a young cook, born in the Paris suburbs, without any connection with anyone, can have the confidence of the most beautiful group in world, LVMH, and its President. (...) Everything started from the map I had in my head, tour around the Caribbean, to tell the story of these islands, work with local suppliers, fishermen, get in touch with one of the only farmers in the island, understand the fruits of the West Indies, all the spices ... (...) "And concludes:" Yes, it is possible to believe in his dreams, to open a restaurant with his grandmother and to be the leader of the only palace of all the Caribbean. "

He should do better than in New York where his late 2018 collaboration ended after one month - the owner cited "too difficult menu and concept for New York customers to understand as a primary reason for the separation"... (fits what we know about those New Yorkers...)

A busy year or so for this celebrity chef - changing his Paris restaurant to a spot that "offers only dishes that the chef's grandmother cooks", collaborating in a Miami restaurant with a local "hospitality mogul" and fan/supporter Pharrell Williams, and collaborating in a Paris luxury sports club/private cinema/restaurant/bar...

A feature on Jean Imbert can be found here... "Cooking is 25% visual, 25% flavour, 50% story-telling"...

I don’t understand. Will he be in residence or not?

Clearly in these instances the establishments try to obfuscate the reality of the famous chef’s physical presence, but my best guess from reading two or three releases is that he will be “the chef” in the same way that J-G Vongerichten is the chef at Eden Rock.

That arrangement does not work for me. Want to try a great chef? Dine at Jean-Claude Dufour’s restaurant, L ‘Esprit. It has been rebuilt after hurricane Irma and is set in the midst of a gorgeous garden.

I that's the way I read your post but Hoppers remark threw me off.

100% agree. Not a very clever choice for such a venue IMHO.

I will take Jean-Claude Dufour's clap-clap any day of the week. Counting down the days when I can enjoy, once again, his mastery in the Kitchen and his gracious staff.

Sorry I misunderstood. If he is not in residence then La Case is off our list. We too love hearing the ‘clap clap’ and the soon to arrive consistently outstanding food and service of our favorite dining destination on the island!
