Negroni

I started drinking Campari and sodas in Rome and developed a taste for the bitters. Upon arriving home I combined equal parts of two other favorites of mine: gin and sweet vermouth to make a Negroni. Equal parts of Campari, gin and sweet vermouth over ice. A heavenly apéritif!

What about gin, campari and angostora bitters.....would that be too sour?

Campari is a bitters, so I think that is overdoing it. Sweet vermouth makes it, sweeter

I was introduced to Negronis in Italy by a colleague over twenty years ago who told me it makes life worth living. Since it's all alcohol, after drinking three of these with him, I remember not being able to feel my lips. He seemed to be immune to the effects. I drink Campari and tonic now.

Very low test alcohol. Not like a martini.

Drank Campari and soda for years never thought about adding gin and vermouth. Hmmm.

One can make Negroni slightly girlier by doubling the amount of Martini Rosso.
