Up earlier than normal today so time for a little update since the response was so positive to my earlier post! Thanks for kind comments!
I think I left off around Wednesday so fast forward to Thursday we went back to Gypsea for an early seating “toes in the sand” lunch. We shared the burrata, mahi ceviche, beef tacos and I had the Gypsea salad with grilled shrimp…. simply outstanding with a bottle of Moet Chandon Rose. It’s our anniversary so we splurged a little more than usual with our planned dinner at MAMO that night. After lunch we brought our towels and a chilled bottle of Perrier Jouet to the beach and spent a couple of hours on that beautiful stretch of beach and in that beautiful calm water. It truly is paradise and one of the nicest beaches in the entire Caribbean. We haven’t ventured too far from St Jean as we are literally on top of it. We have done the other beaches many times and the sargassum issue seems to still be an issue but not on St. Jean. Sometimes pool gravity sets in too!
MAMO was, again, the absolute best! They sat us at a perfect corner table, and we witnessed the entire dining scene. Our servers were so attentive, in our opinion, as one of the top restaurants on St. Barths! We shared the meatball appetizer, my wife ordered the fettucine with veal ragout in white sauce, and I ordered the eggplant parmigiana with the arugula salad with cherry tomatoes. Everything was on point and delicious! A bottle of Italian red wine was included in the above, but the label escapes me. They brought us the most delicious piece of anniversary cake which we devoured! No leftovers tonight!
Yesterday, Friday we headed to Choisy Boulangerie to satisfy Kimberly’s croissant craving. What a nice little place with so many “carb” options! The iced lattes were perfect as well! A quick stop at a very picked over Monoprix to replenish the champagne/wine/beer supply then back to the villa for a nice morning and early afternoon by the pool with some champagne and reggae music. Soggy Dollar Radio needs to be on everyone’s list. We use the robust Sonos system here and play the app through that. Just a PSA add-in. We decided to go into Gustavia for a little retail therapy as we had not been able to fit that in so far on this trip. We found great parking (love this time of year) and hit the usual shops. We sat at Le Select for a couple of cold ones and decided to have dinner at the villa. We went to Le Bouchon for a Greek salad and a couple of cheeseburgers to take away. They were really good and a nice dinner outside by the pool was enjoyed by the both of us!
Today is another beautiful sunny one and we have yet to decide exactly what and where we are going but it’ll be somewhere amazing, I’m quite sure which has been the theme of this trip to one of our favorite places on earth! Leaving on Monday so I’ll most likely recap the rest when we get back to reality. Some random photos below. Thanks for reading!
