Mid trip check in!

It's now Monday afternoon which, technically is the first day of vacation for us! We never count the days we aren't required to be in the office as actually vacation days! It's been a wonderful trip back to our favorite isle and the weather has been spectacular! Passing clouds and a few showers here and there but overall, magnificent! This villa tends to suck us in during the AM and early PM hours as the pool and views are amazing! Also, the sound system is state of the art. I'll let a little secret out.....Soggy Dollar Radio app (also on Tune In and available through Sonos) is the best! We discovered a few years ago on a trip to the BVI/USVI and it is the best no commercial radio with a blend of reggae, pop and country. Anyway....

We arrived on Wednesday, no turbulence whatsoever and Vincent's VIP services are the best to navigate us through a tight connection and actually get us on an earlier Winair flight. We did the obligatory trip to the Marche Express in L'Orient and take out pizzas and salads from Le Bouchon. The market was pretty picked over, but we found what we needed for the evening and next day.

Thursday night we went to Le Toiny for their weekly "Beach Extravaganza" which was Thanksgiving night, of course. They had 140 guests that night. It was a lot of fun and the food was excellent! My wife's lobster pasta and my Waygu bavette steak was melt in your mouth incredible! Finished it off sharing the lemon tart dessert which was equally delicious!

Friday was another villa day with champagne, cocktails and such! A little leftover pizza for a pool snack never hurts either. We were graciously (again} invited to stop by Amy's (Amery on the forum) villa for sunset drinks and apps. Amy, Donal and family are so nice and so generous. We really enjoyed the 90 minutes or so with them! Afterwards we headed to Mamo for the first time. They are located in the former spot Orega was located. The service and food were outstanding! My wife ordered the Cacio de pepe and I had the baked eggplant parmasean and an arugala salad. We will definitely return and they have valet parking which was very much needed that evening.

Saturday was spent at Pearl Beach Club with loungers and drinks. Lolita and Remy take very good care of us and the loungers at $50 are pretty decent this time of year. We went to Tamarin on Saturday night and it was fairly busy. The setting, as most of you know, is very romantic and tropical. We shared the Waygu Picanha for two and a couple of orders of steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes (for Kim). It was decent but having been twice now in six months, we will probably take it off the list for our next trip. Manu was there and he is so gracious and the perfect host!

Sunday was our first time at the late seating at Nikki Beach. We arrived about 3:20 and were seated at the perfect table for two. We go every year but always the first seating. We didn't see much difference in the two seatings. We probably will opt for the first seating in the future. We shared the tuna tartare, the sashimi plate with tuna, salmon, hamachi and shrimp and a special sushi roll with tuna, salmon, asparagus and mango. The food at Nikki Beach remains some of the best on the island! Plus, they are open every day so don't just think Sunday is the only day to book this amazing restaurant in the most iconic setting!

Today (Monday) is a blue bird day! We are sitting by the pool with a nice bottle of Veuve yellow label and we are heading to St Jean later this afternoon for a little retail therapy, cigar replenish and dinner at La Casina.

Some random photos.....sorry if grammatically incorrect or spelling errors....it's tough in the sun and when you are in a hurry!

Valet at Mamo a big plus ! This past March, on two occasions, L'Isola wasn't offering their valet service. Not sure what's up with that, but for un haut de gamme restaurant in town, a valet is de rigueur, imho.
