Leaving through SXM

Coming to after a long day traveling home. Thought I'd pass on what I gleaned about the SXM part.

Asking around about needing to submit the SXM form on the way back and got mixed messages, so we went ahead and filled it out. We put our origin as Saint-Barthelemy, with the state as Saint-Barthelemy and the city as Gustavia, which worked.

After landing and getting off the shuttle, we entered the terminal and walked to the split between transit and non-transit passengers. We had checked luggage, so we went off to the right and were directed to one of several kiosks. Placed our Passports in the slot and looked into the camera. Green light and we were good to go. Walked right by the booth and down into the baggage claim area. Nothing was said about the SXM form. Maybe the system knew or it doesn't matter or something else. It's SXM after all. With luggage collected, we walked out into the terminal to the AA counter. Dropped off the bags and right before the stairs up to security, there is another set of scanners where one has to place the boarding pass and look into another camera. Green light and it's upstairs to security, which is the same process as pre-IRMA. From there it's off to the gate. We arrived on the 10a SBC flight, so the terminal wasn't crowded and the whole process was pretty easy and only took maybe 20 minutes from landing to gate.

Back at the immigration kiosks, I asked the SXM assistant about transiting procedures when leaving (going back home) and she said that if one has BOTH a boarding pass and carry-on only luggage, then one goes in the transit line and on upstairs (no kiosk). Otherwise, one must use the immigration kiosks. like we did.

Hope this helps.

The kiosk knew about your SXM form, and matched you to it. At least that’s the way that it is supposed to work.
They most likely match by the passport info that one has to put in the form, and it is all coded in the chips in the newer US passports, so as soon as one scans the passport in kiosks, it is matched to the form.

We also arrived on that 10 AM flight on Saturday, and the Juliana was almost empty. Good time to go thru everything.

Wondering if one didn't fill out the SXM form, then the kiosk would have then asked those questions, which appears to have been the case mentioned in an earlier thread.

Yes. In concept, the bulk of arriving passengers have filled out the form, and go through the kiosks and are fsst-tracked, while the remainder go to an immigration booth. In reality, many of the people who have not completed the form are routed to the kiosks where they complete the form, slowing things down for those who have and who should be fast-tracked.
