There are quite a few boats on the water to escort Agir in, and there is a large crowd on the Quay.

Agir Recouvrement is just under 3 miles out, and about to make the turn at Colombier. From there, it’s a straight shot to the finish line. They’ll arrive just after sunset.

The 2nd-place boat, Bretagne CMB Performance, finished about 1:09 behind the winner. The 3rd-place boat, Breizh Cola, is finishing now, about 4 hours after the winner.Breizh Cola is being chased to the finish line by Guyot Environnement, which is about 1nm behind them.

I miss being on-island for this. I've been there for the 2014 and the 2016 races. I don't know why the 2018 race is taking place 2 weeks later than the previous races, but I'm bummed that I'm not there to witness it. Not bummed enough to give up my dates at EMM so that I can match the race dates though, LOL.

nice race! those guys that won really worked hard for it, as did all the boats. since the contest post was locked down, I will respond here. I think this is the first year that I won.....it was just a lucky guess on my part. I am looking forward to the champagne as it is my favorite! Kevin, I think Andy should have the beautiful tin as a second place prize. It would be easier to mail this to him also.

Amy, here’s the arrival update on your and jroyer’s Groupe Royer - Secours Populaire team:

Groupe Royer - Secours Populaire fifth on arrival

Anthony Marchand and Alexis Loison took 5th place by cutting the finish line at 6:52 on Friday morning. Groupe Royer - Secours Populaire conceded 6 hours, 3 minutes and 38 seconds to the winners they shared the choice of road to the Canary Islands before being let down slightly.
Alexis Loison: "We were hoping better. This deck was tough, we fought like lions. We really gave everything and, in the end, we have no regrets. We will come back. We spent 19 days thoroughly. In general, there are short lengths. Now, there is the impression that the transat is gone super fast! We are three on a median option and we are the only ones not to be on the podium, without anyone knowing why. We had two grains, two soft and we lost contact "

Anthony Marchand: "We have two regrets. The first is not to have the record of 24 hours: we made a nice recovery after Cape Finisterre and (while the conditions were made for pure speed, ed), we jibed in the strong wind. And the second is to have lost 20 miles after the Canary Islands on Agir Recovery and Bretagne CMB Performance. And it is these 20 miles that we miss at the end to win the podium. But we fought well and the transat gave beautiful winners. The pair is complementary! If registrations are already open for 2020, we re-register! On the middle road, we had a lot of gybes, soft spots, we were not on the road to the south, and the days passed quickly, because we had work.

5th: Groupe Royer - Secours Populaire (Anthony Marchand and Alexis Loison)
Race time: 18d 17h 52min 0s
Average speed: 8.65 knots
Distance traveled: 4265 miles at 9.48 knots
Distance to first: 6h 3min 38s

Alexis Loison : « On espérait mieux. Cette transat était dure, on s'est battu comme des lions. On a vraiment tout donné et, au final, on n'a pas de regrets. On reviendra. On a passé 19 jours à fond.

Nicely done Diana. Thanks but you can keep the tin can. Goes with. :biglaugh:

Thank you for the Groupe Royer commentary. Pure chance I followed them in the race. Friends with the same name ROYER live in France, so I felt involved. And their color was ORANGE!

They all gave it their all-could not ask for more. Looking forward to 2020 event.

Les Perles de Saint Barth, Teamwork, and Smurfit Kappa - Cerfrance have all arrived. Concarneau Entreprendre and Bretagne CMB Espoir are about 1 mile out, separated by .2nm. These two boats will be the closest finish of the race.

Everial will also finish sometime tonight.

Everial crossed the finish line, or cut the line as the French say, just before 23:00 last night, finishing in 14th place. Everial’s time was 19D 15H 51M 04S. All 14 of the boats which have finished so far have beaten the course record, which was 19D 22H 24M 30S, and was set in 2006.

Two boats have yet to finish. Les Frigos Solidaire is 270 miles out, and will likely finish sometime on Sunday evening. Cornouaille Solidarité St Barth will be the last to finish, likely sometime on Tuesday.

Les Frigos Solidaires has finished 15th in the race, with a time of 21D 9H 3M 20S. There is one more boat left to finish, Cornouaille - Solidarité St Barth. The team has about 400nm left to sail, and is expected to finish sometime on Tuesday.

Cornouaille - Solidarité St Barth, the final boat in this edition of the race, is 20 miles from the finish. They should cross the finish line sometime between 11:30 and 12:00.

We actually got in ahead of the last boat. What were the odds? In Lurin now.

Congrats and thanks to all the brave sailors for an exciting record breaking race..Until the next time, bon chance.

The team of Guillaume Farsy and Renaud Nicot aboard Cornouaille - Solidarité St Barth crossed the line at 11:50, after having sailed 4,784 miles in 23D 4H 50M 38S. They are the last boat to finish - but they finished!

There were originally 20 boats in this year’s race. One boat withdrew prior to the start due to a medical issue. A second boat retired early in the race due to an injury. Two boats were dismasted in heavy weather off of Portugal, weather which also damaged the boom of Cornouaille - Solidarité St Barth. The team put into Cascais near Lisbon for repairs, which took a full day to complete. Sateco - Teame Vendée Formation, one of the dismasted boats, donated their boom for the repair. The lost day put the team over 500 miles behind the leader. They were forced south towards Cape Verde in search of the tradewinds, sailing farther south than any of the other boats. The southern route did not provide the winds needed to catch up with the rest of the fleet, and Cornouaille-Solidarité St Barth finished 5 days behind the winner.[FONT=&quot]

The team was met off of Point Colombier by a fleet of local boats, as well as the boats of several competitors, who came out to welcome them.

Renaud Nicot lives in St Barth. Some may know him from sailing aboard the TopLoc boat.

This will be the last edition of La Transat Ag2r La Mondiale which will be sailed using Figaro Beneteau 2 boats. The next edition of the race, assuming that there will be one, will take place in 2020 using the new Figaro Beneteau 3 boats. http://www.beneteau.com/us/figaro-beneteau-3

I was on the quay when this last boat arrived to great fanfare — a large, cheering crowd . . . LOUD air horns . . . a great flotilla of boats surrounding it for a triumphal entry into the Harbor. The sailors were smiling & waving, acknowledging prolonged cheers of their celebratory fans. It was quite emotional . . . nothing suggesting a finish of the last boat.
