July visit

Greetings St. Barth friends, celebrating our 39th year of traveling to St. Barth, (with 2 years detour to other places) We are beach people. That is why we rent chairs from Caribe Waterplay while staying at the wonderful CEC. (Highly recommended). First all the positives…we were in paradise! #1. The food, the people, the service was exceptional except for one experience. Even though we didn’t run into any friends from this forum it was great to see familiar faces at restos. Kristin at Pearl and had 2 wonderful conversations with Eddy, who showed up after World Cup action. Great food, Eddy’s twice, Le Repair twice, Grain de Sel twice (highly recommended) food and service was exceptional. Bonito, Nyama, Les Bananiers (love the openness and cleanliness). Beef Bar was a total home run. View and food, yum! They had a desert with 5 sides including fudge which we didn’t have room for. However we forced ourselves. Tamaran was a total disappointment. We have been dining there since the parrot. Food was meh, and service was pushy. Lunch, was so amazing except for one…the exceptional ones…Pearl, bar de l’oubli, (exceptional chicken wings) Le Select had one of the best mahi mahi burgers on the island. Eddy says his son has a lot to do with that. Nikki, twice and the first time on the 4th of July where someone drove a motorcycle through the resto. Tres Cool! Ti Corail‘s lobster roll was not as wonderful as the past. However, it is like visiting family. Some of the negatives…the wind was excessive. No ones fault. We could not go into the water by Pearl so we had to walk down to Eden Rock (which was not terrible). I understand the speed bumps do not love them. The scooters…I get them. As long as they don’t hit my car I can get along with them. One incident bothered me and the Collective needs to address future situations like this…Driving to Gustavia 17.00 hours, 2 scooters came 2 inches of hitting me as they passed. Then they slowed down in front of me. I normally ignore these situations. This time a gave a honk and a wave of my hand to implore them to move faster as there was no cars ahead of them. Hard to believe during rush hour. Then we descended to Gustavia they not only slowed down in front of me, they called over another scooter yelled something at them and all 3 created a slow barricade In front of us until they turned to Corossol. We were upset. If we had been visiting for the first time we might have never returned. The Collective realizes how much income tourism brings in and I hope they will address situations like this in the future. for our 40th we will visit in May. See you on the beach…

Hi Peter & Lynn, are you coming any other times in 2017?
In 2017 I have reservations for January, April, August and November.

The villa we have been renting looks like it's been taken for our usual dates, so are thinking of another France trip instead. Not sure about different dates for SBH, but you've got me curious. High season is out as is August given hurricane season ramps up both in the Caribbean and here at home. What April and November dates do you have? PM if you prefer.
