January 27, 2013, Lunch at Nikki Beach.

Nikki Beach has gone through some management changes, and is now more South Beach than St Tropez. Not bad if you like loud techno music and the Nikki Beach Dancers doing the robot on the tables, but a bit over the top for our taste. Or maybe we're a bit over the top for Nikki Beach. Either way, it was still a fun experience, and there is still no better place on St Barth for people watching.

I had my favorite NB salad, which consists of a ball of Mozzarella, thinly sliced Tomatoes and some strips of Ham. Everything was fresh and tasty.

Amy had, wait for it, the Sushi platter which consisted of a California roll and several pieces Sushi. The plates went back empty and we enjoyed every bite. BTW, if you want to have "sex on the beach" after your meal, you now have to ask for it.

Thank goodness on the sex on the beach. That's what did us in when we missed Gaiac. A small pitcher of vanilla rhum is one thing. A small pitcher of SOTB is another.

Great photos but I now this just isn't our cup of tea....we've never been fans of NB except for a drink now and then.

"Or maybe we're a bit over the top for Nikki Beach."...I think you've hit the nail on the head Phil :)

"BTW, if you want to have "sex on the beach" after your meal, you now have to ask for it." My husband has given up on that one

Is it louder than it was last year? We were right in front of the DJ on a Sunday afternoon last year and it got so loud i just couldn't deal with it. Had to go outside and leave the rest of my party inside.

We had a fun lunch there on our last visit in the Summer. Has it changed much in terms of south beach versus St. Tropez? We liked it last year quite a bit actually for a fun, people watching, loud lunch.

The do is now located at the far end from the entrance. They have added new tables and more floor. There is a new deck where the sushi chef had a station. sushi comes out of the same kitchen as the other foods. still raucous on Sunday. They advertised flower and hippie theme, yet music was not 60's, Euro tech loud, with 4 rock songs from days gone by.

Really, Kevin, neither are we. But we have had many a fun weekend lunch there. It depends on the crowd, the weather, and the mood of the day.

That said, the food part is quite good and well prepared and served. We had not been there in a while and did enjoy our day Sunday.

I hope it's not always techno. I saw an ad for an upcoming "Flower" Sunday at Nikki Beach which looked 70s-ish and fun.

That's the one we just went to. I counted 4 Classic Rock songs in the 2 hours we were there. The Flower Power theme only seemed to apply to the peace symbols that most of the waitstaff were wearing.

Same Theme as Mar 2012 during the Bucket Regatta...hummmmmmm...is that what they think the visitors want?

I am searching high and low for that pic of Mike and IV sharing a glass of white wine there.
