Nice photos! I've been lobbying for a trip to Italy this year, thus far unsuccessfully. Sending these pictures to my husband.

If you go to Italy, we stayed at an amazing Tuscan farm near Sienna when we were there in 2010. It was the highlight of our trip.

If you are not looking for a beach vacation...

I second (or third?) the suggestion for Italy. I went for two weeks last summer and it was glorious. Paris is also one of the most special places in the world to me.

If you are looking for an adventure, a friend of mine recently hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and traveled through the surrounding areas of Peru. He couldn't say enough good things about the trip.

personally I am a big fan of the south of france.. in the shoulder season, spring or fall, great weather... lavender in the spring, sunflowers follow, then grapes and figs in the fall... little off-the-beaten-track villages, great cafés and bistros..or michelin stars... j'adore!

I am online playing around with plans for a springtime visit to France and was thinking Paris.

Jeanette, you must go to Paris if you go to France but it is quite easy to take a TGV to South of France in the same trip. We loved Isle Sur la Sorgue (spelling) as a home base to all the other lovely little villages.
Pick up Rick Steves guide to France for some great trip ideas, and must have suggestions on how to avoid crowds, buy tickets, see special out of way spots, etc.

I've been to Paris many time, but not with Dennis. I was toying with going back again this year. One of my favorite trips was to see Roland Garros (the French Open) in late May.

Thanks for the south of France suggestions. I am about to Google Isle Sur la Sorgue. I am on a high from my recent trip and ready to plan the next adventure.
