Re: Hawk devouring an Iguana

Now if only that winged rascal could do the same with the rats....

Re: Hawk devouring an Iguana

i heard talk of a rat problem, but we saw none the entire two weeks we were there.

Re: Hawk devouring an Iguana

Missy,
I'm happy that you saw none, but come bike riding with me some morning. Happily, most of the rats I see are already roadkill.

Re: Hawk devouring an Iguana

I saw plenty in June...alive and dead...wait til these little rascals start showing up unannounced at the 10 thousand dollar a week Villas......the you know what is going to hit the fan big time ......

all I have to say in my best Robert Shaw "Jaws" voice is this:

"we need bigger cats"

since i don't leave the villa until almost 10:00am, i'm sure the roadkill has already been consumed and the live ones have gone back into hiding for the day. that is pretty disgusting, though!

LC...if you and your current hubby ever part ways, head north and look Fred up...you two would get along quite well...cheep-cheep...

See how this grabs Ya;

About 7-10 days ago our female cat brought in a mouse or small roof rat. My betrothed atempted to get the mouse from the cat only to have it run away from the both of them and into the toe kick space in the kitchen cabinets. Since that time neither my 2 cats nor Karen have been able to catch the critter and return him to his previously occupied domicile.

My suggestion in the beginning was to turn the matter over to me and I would get a couple of mouse traps and nail him. The animal rights activist in the household would have nothing to do with that strategy and has been attempting to catch said critter with Have-A Heart traps without sucess. Each morning the traps are empty and there are signs of our little vistor having been out and about in the we hours of the morning. The damn cats are useless in this endevor sleeping away the nights on the end of our bed!

Come Saturday we're gonna do this my way!

Re: Hawk devouring an Iguana

Try chunky peanut butter instead of cheese. I caught a mouse outside with it in a Havahart when I was aiming for a chipmunk. Also, they sell mouse traps that don't kill- it's enclosed and has glue inside.

Re: Hawk devouring an Iguana

Well, what do you think of this idea?

What if I cut of the food supply to my three mousers and see how long it takes them to get motivated in their task!

Re: Hawk devouring an Iguana

both cats and women are spiteful creatures by nature...you will lose in that game - times 3...LOL

I think what the island needs is very intense and highly trained German Shepherds, from working lines.
That would take care of the "mouse problem", not to mention the "Point Milou problem." And those wild agave-consuming goats would be nicely herded!
I am trying to convince Vickie that I am the perfect man to start such an operation. I would be happy to move the family down there to breed and train and I think my current GSD would be very happy with the "breeding" task.
So far, Vickie's not buying into it.

Fred enjoys watching animals kill and eat other animals. PM him for his "cheep-cheep" video...I'm not sure he'll post it here anymore...

Hey, you know they're out there, no matter WHAT villa or hotel....they're all over the island....and if Tim is seeing so many of them on the road, where do you think the rest of them are...they have to eat, lol.

Re: Hawk devouring an Iguana

Oh Great! Now not only do we have airlines that are raping us, We have critters taking over the villas! I really love this island with a passion, but there seems to be alot of reasons to ponder my next visit. don't get me wrong the rat thing is not the back breaker. It's airfare, car rental, villa rental, meals,
Oh who am I kidding, I'am about to book the third week of April :)
