Re: 2nd Best Beach

Must be a Vizsla!

Along those lines, I would need to add several beaches in Oregon. Agate Beach was a long-time favorite of mine as are the beach and dunes of Honeyman State Park near Florence.

Re: 2nd Best Beach Vacation

200 kilometers of magnificent beach, dunes and bike paths... only a scattering of people...no dress code.....wonderful beach bistros.....p

Re: 2nd Best Beach

Lauren,
I will surely go if I can figure out where you are talking about. Sorry I must have too much sun on the brain.

Re: 2nd Best Beach Vacation

Vizsla heaven? How about Great Dane heaven? I'd go there and bring Savannah! She loves Vizslas!

Re: 2nd Best Beach

I thought it was clear:
200 km dunes
Ocean sailing
Bordeaux vineyards
Biarritz
Dordogne nearby

Re: 2nd Best Beach

It is clear now. I had just never heard of it.
I just looked at several of the hotel web sites to get a view of the ocean. Looks wonderful.
I also scanned around the area on mapsquest. I can see what you mean, the area has alot of diversity.
Looks like a great destination. When is the best time to go. I like low population density and high water temp.
Thanks- Bob

Okay, bbrowne.... I've had too many gin and tonics ! I admit that I'm not getting the location ! Where is this mysterious place and PLEASE, when you tell me, don't make me bonk myself on the head and hide the gin....

Re: 2nd Best Beach

Deb,
It is nice to here someone else who claims Baie Longue as their favorite. I help rebuild La Samana after a hurricane a few years back and really came to love Baie Longue.

Lauren is referring to the beach that includes the towns of Biarritz and Sainte Jean-de-Luz. It is located on the Atlantic near where France and Spain border. Lauren's prose, and surveying this area on the web has really sparked my imagination. It is on my short list of places to go in the next couple of years.

Re: 2nd Best Beach

Would always go to Baie Longue when staying a day on St. Martin before traveling on to St. Barts. A great beach, but because of the crime on this island we felt vulnerable unless you walked down near La Samana. Prime area to get mugged when walking from the parking area to the beach...would walk quickly and always look over our shoulders.

Re: 2nd Best Beach

ok here are a few beaches for the list

Race Point Beach, Cape Cod
Fort Walton Beach, Fla ( extremely underrated )
South Padre Island, Texas
Any beach in the Syracusa or Taormina area of Sicily
Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
South Caicos beaches
Trunk Bay, St John USVI
Captiva Island, Fla

Coney Island, Brooklyn NY....only kidding of course but I had a blast there as a kid so I had to put it on the list

Re: 2nd Best Beach

I've always been curious about South Padre Island. What's the temperature like in January? Is it quiet? What kinds of accomodations are there?
