Gumbs Car Rental - The BEST!

Many people check the forum so I wanted to make sure I post this, especially after reading the post (in another thread) by "Davesmom" about how helpful Odile and Gumbs Car Rental has been. Over the many years, there have been so many times when either ourselves, friends, families and folks we don't really know have reached out to Odile for not only a routine rental, but have had last minute requests during stressful times, over Christmas / New Years, and when completely let down by other rental agencies. Over the past ~ 20yrs years, Gumbs has always been the best of the best. They have seen our kids grow up from the teenage years and now our kids are having kids and visiting the island so it is quite fun when they stop in to pick up a car now... and request one that fits a car seat or two!

I just wanted to post this because time and time again, Odile and family come through and go above and beyond just being a car rental company on the island. It's a family-owned business that really cares about people (and pets), and they are honest and friendly. I could write many funny (and some not so funny) stories about running into the airport and Odile looks at me and says "Uh Oh..." Other times and when it is slow, I can stop in and we can laugh and smile about those crazy days!

I know there are other good companies on the island too but the personal and caring nature of Gumbs makes them, in my humble opinion, the very best as a car rental company on St. Barts.

I can second that opinion! For many, many years now it's been Odile (and her sister and other family members) every time. Gumbs doesn't just go out of their way to meet our needs, they do it in a warm, friendly way that just makes my heart feel good! Bob

OMG, you are so right! We had a spectacular day thanks to Odile and co. and I already gave her name and number to my friend, Alicia, who has the Terra boutique because her friend needed to rent a car as hers broke down apparently. So I hope she will also get something good. Like James Bond, nobody does it better! She is a gem!

I couldn't agree more! We've rented from Gumbs for years and coumt her as a trusted friend whenever we visit. On one recent visit, we were stopping at SB for just a few hours. (We were on a, ahem, cruise.) Odile met us at the port with a smile anf just the right car with instructions to leave the car with the keys in a designated place when we finished our self-guided tour to our favorite places. It was seamless, gracious, and the icing on a perfect day.

So agree! We have always rented through Le G so had no on island contact to make but really, we feel confident that we could even do a villa (gulp!) thanks to her

You cannot go wrong with Odile and company. They know their customers and know how to take care of their cars. (I have more than once received a text from Odile reminding me to please put the top up...when it was spotted in town on occasion...my bad). No worries...those showers can pop up at any moment, so I get it. 5 stars from me, too!

Don.t want to pile on...but Gumbs is the best...been coming to the island for 30 years...son, just came to get engaged in December...I posted as many of you know about the mess of the beautiful people coming to the island...told Junior to rent from Gumbs...he decided to go with a cheaper alternative...he waited 2 hours for his SUV...my wife was mad because she said I should have helped him out....LOL...you need to let your children learn from their own mistakes...thank God, he.s marrying the right girl...he said to me....Dad, she.s just like you...family first, fiscally conservative, great family, and tough as nails...I said...you lose her...don.t call me...LOL...put the ring on her on Pearl Beach on December 17th...thank God...he will go long with her as I did with my wife...36 yrs married...

Congratulations and yes, kids do have to make their own "mistakes" at times..and some of us girls are definitely the "don't mess with us or else" types ..leads to a great marriage since we just hit 50 years!
