Food delivery?

We tried to visit the fish market last week, but there was only 1 fisherman in the pavilion, so we went to the butcher instead. So at the fish market, how does one make "the deal"? There were no signs, etc. Is it simply a barter process or is there set prices or what?

Hold money in left hand, point at fish with right.

We must have been too late then as we saw no chalk board or anything....Oh well, live and learn. The steak we had that night was really good! We'll do fish next time.

In the same shopping center as the gas station in St. Jean -- not directly across from the airport, but the next strip center down heading toward Eden Rock.

It's a bit difficult bartering with someone who has sold all their stock before most people are out of bed.

Will probably see you there. Hopefully, I can grab some snapper and mahi mahi. I'll be the guy with money in left hand and pointing at fish.

I woke up to late this morning. Last night we went for a drive and between my horrible sunburn and the car ride, I regurgitated. It was horrible. Sorry for the visuals...

I know one sees "vivaneau" on some menus. Are they available at the Halle aux Poissons in Gustavia from the waters around St-Barth?
Are they available at Lorient? The various species of Lutjanus are more reef dwellers than pelagic, right?

Vivaneau is red snapper and quite delicious... grab some if you can find it fresh, in Lorient or in town....
