First timers' honeymoon in September

That's the right road. Take it all the way to the big rock and L'Esprit is on the left side as well.

Part of your problem may be the place doesn't have walls(!) other than bushes and shrubs so it's easy to drive by it and not notice it. The other problem is the sign doesn't really stick out like the golden arches (not really a bad thing).

Yep it is actually there. They only have a tiny sign off the street, so it was not visible at all after dark when we were driving around, even with our eyes peeled we couldn't make it out.

Closed until October 3rd for renovations, so all the lights were off etc. The sign posted in the image above also wasn't there, otherwise we might have seen it in the dark.

After so many recommendations for the place (even locals directed us to it) I'm quite disappointed it's not open! But then again, it gives us something new to look forward to when we make it IN THE ON SEASON next time :)

Esprit Jean-Claude is between M&P and Grain de Sel on the same side of the road as both of them, it's a regular restaurant row in Saline...

Ludwig- now that September is over with and you received lots of advice on the what to dos on the island, we are all waiting for your trip report. What did you like, not like, can you share photos- meals, beaches, sunsets, acquaintances...?? Thank you in advance.

Would you go back? What are your impressions of the island?

Heck yea I would go back! We're looking forward to going again during the season, hopefully soon!

Pretty much the only thing we didn't like was the mosquitoes. They were a huge pain in our villa, couldn't sit outside or go into the kitchen without doing the anti-mosquito dance, regardless of how many citronella candles, anti mosquito smokers and mosquito magnets we had around the place. Mosquito milk definitely helped, but covering yourself in it isn't exactly wonderful, and when you jump in the pool you have to reapply...

Out of the restaurants we visited, Pipiri Palace and M&P stand out as best. Sadly we didn't get to do L'Esprit, or Tamarin, or any of the other top picks.
We were really disappointed by Cote Port, the food was lackluster, the service was quite awful, and the pricetag was high.
La Reparie was not bad, service was good food was decent.
La Creperie was great, sadly it closed for the off season before we could go for a second time.
Le Gustav' was ok, bad service, normal food.

Saline and Governeur beaches weren't beeing cleaned, so there were piles of seaweed everywhere. Colombier was gorgeous, the natural pools in grand fond were great.

We did a Seabob tour, which I can only recommend to everyone - heck of a lot of fun!
Snorkeling is a must at Colombier. Around the left side of the beach, I saw wonderful things from giant sponges, to turtles and cuttlefish.

Loved it, can't wait to go back when things are actually open!
