By day 3 it feels like we're settling in to the trip, and by that I mean the relaxation and low key, laissez-faire pace. Leisurely breakfast at the villa, a little fresh fruit, baguette, croissant & apricot jam (we picked up some provisions at MarcheU) and lingering over our coffee. Warm & humid enough to slip into the pool for a morning dip before we head out for the day... lovely.
Somehow on our previous trip we missed visiting Anse Flamands. I knew this was an egregious oversight, so today was our day to rectify that. Drove down and found parking along the street towards the far West end access. Stepping onto the sand, we immediately knew how special this beach is. We both felt that this was the softest, cleanest and most perfect sand we had yet found on the island. Even out in the water, it was just silky smooth and felt amazing to set foot upon. We posted up on the West end for a bit, but soon realized that we had better find some shade, so we walked all the way to the other end. We decided to pay for a couple chairs at the Cheval Blanc and let ourselves be pampered a bit. Happy to have someone bringing us drinks and snacks. While there we ended up chatting with another couple, and the margaritas began to flow freely (very tasty but strong!!). We ended up staying and laughing and found that there was nobody left around us and somehow the entire afternoon had just passed. Never felt rushed and the staff was happy to keep bringing us cocktails, and we had a blast making new friends.
Finally said goodbye to Flamands and went back to the villa to put a bigger dent in that rum and Rose! We eventually pried ourselves away from the villa view and went back to Gustavia for a return visit to Eddys. We had dined here 9 years ago and loved it, so we were excited to return. The lush tropical and open setting of Eddys is just so charming and the vibe is so island, it was everything we remembered. Tracey had the assorted tuna which was so light and flavorful. Exactly the freshness we come here for.
Not quite ready to end our wonderful day, we decided to stop on the way home at Eden Rock for a cocktail (another thing we did not do on our previous visit). They had a fun cocktail menu and the boats anchored off shore were lit up on the clear water. Just enjoying each others company and the warm contented glow of the dinner, cocktails and the entire day.
