Eating on a budget in St. Barths ??

MikeR will be there in June and will take you out to dinner so you can save on that one.

hmmmm...what I will do is come over and cook a killer dinner for her and her friend in return for a night of babysitting....that would work for me

Hurricane strike probability

Hurricane season actually runs from June 1 to December 1, but the incidence of hurricanes on either end of that scale is low. I'll bet some of our better reserachers could do a historical hurricane probability strike chart for St. Barthelemy, but that's beyond my abilities.

Old Mariner's Guide

That Old Mariner must have been in South Carolina. LOL.

Several feet of rain and 150 mph winds around November 15, 1999 still are etched in my memory.

Re: Hurricane strike probability

but you really have to disregard all the ones prior to, say 1980, because it is a generally accepted theory that global warming has dramatically changed global weather patterns particularly hurricanes and typhoons....now I know,...I know...our government officially denies any existence of global warming whatsoever and probably wont accept it until they are literally sloshing through a foot of water in the White Houes..

but for those of us who actually believe what scientists with no hidden agenda are telling us.....you must disregard the pre 1980's patterns as they might not be relevant anymore

I should have known. Webmistress, future baseball commissioner, meteorologist - allez, Kara!

Re: Hurricane strike probability

minnmom, I don't know why nobody mentions it but try le rivage at the grande cul de sac. you can fill up on their huge salads for 6 euros and drink free vanilla rhum as they give you a bottle. the prices are fine and have sandwhiches, burgers, steak, seafood and all right on the beach. not expensive and quality food and service.

Re: Hurricane strike probability

A little known fact about those huge Rivage salads - you can ask for a Demi - or half - of most if not all of them.

Le Rivage is my Sunday lunch spot.

1980? I knew it was Reagan's fault!!! Just kidding. I really think the cause was too many beans in the diet of the the Woolly Mammoth. The glaciers have been shrinking since then, right?

Cut the crap, treehugger...so does most of the scientific community....and if it IS happening, Mother uh, Gaia will adjust...

Re: Hurricane strike probability

Fred...LOL..hey..as long as you realize that at 10,000 feet I am sitting on future waterfront property......its cool.....just swim by and Ill throw you a ring bouy....LOL

I knew that would shake you out of the bushes....LOL..hey make sure that your boys in the White House completely trash Alaska in their endeavors to satisfy our very well planned and manipulated insatiable appetites for oil and gas

Re: Hurricane strike probability

Hi bin228,
Staying at the Guanahani, did I miss Le Rivage? Could you help with the location? Sounds like a good stop for something quick!
Merci,
Davesmom

Hey Mike R - If we really were in St Barths at the same time, my friend and I would probably take you up on the babysitting in exchange for a meal cooked in our villa :)

Wow! Congrats! I always wanted to know someone who won that. I always enter that...too cool. That is great, you will have such a good time. We are going to be there over thanksgiving this year. We rented a villa. We are not planning on eating out a lot as we have a baby and dont really want to spend a ton on food. Plus cooking in the villa is fun and I think its easier to eat in a lot of the time. But as many of the others have said there are a lot of places you can eat without spending a lot. We plan on checking some of them out. I am sure you and your friend will have a great time! I have a good friend in Minnesota are you still freezing up there? Well, you are sure to warm up in St Barths! Congrats again.
