This came across my facebook feed so I thought I would post it here. Apparently a boat was stolen from St. Barths with only a pup on board. It was eventually found crashed on the rocks on Saba. But the dog was rescued!!! Love a happy ending! Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2011841012828427

I've been following the drama on FB - it's been quite a saga, with another boat suspected of being the boat first, then no clarity on whether the boat was stolen or got loose somehow...lots of questions. But I'm so glad Archie is safe! And so happy for the very distressed owner.

What a gooooood boyyyyy! Looks like he had a hard (and wet) day!

Jeez!!! Just the idea of someone stealing a boat on SBH bothers me..... Many years ago, back when people used actual cameras, I forgot a good camera after eating lunch at Villa Creole in St. Jean. Maybe three hours later I remembered it, we went back, and it was still just sitting there on the stone wall where I'd left it. I suppose even if I owned a camera, that might not happen today.....

In 2009, I went w a friend who had an "interlude" on the beach w some guy she met late at night. She couldn't find her purse and camera afterwards. Sure enough, both turned up at the airport the next day. The following year, same friend lost her purse and passport again, and the hotel we were at got a phone call from whoever found it. And again, another friend once got super wasted at Shellona, and lost her purse and phone. That also was returned, I forgot the exact detail, but she got it back.

Moral of the story: My friends drink too much. (truth is, I don't travel with either of those people any more. But I hope for the people whose friends do, they find whatever they're looking for, and don't get too b!tchy with the friend who is spending their vacation driving around the island looking for their lost belongings.)

Like Risa said, the story about what actually happened was a bit convoluted - according to the coconut telegraph, there was video showing the boat being stolen but made to look like it broke the mooring, and there was some talk that the voleur was known to the owner of the boat.

The important thing is that the dog was rescued and was ok! The boat, however, was not and the owner lived on the boat. There is a go fund me that has been set up to help the boat owner. https://www.onparticipe.fr/c/yuC2wRAJ
