DO NOT EAT AT L' ENTRACTE!!

Rosita...no argument here..although the food has been good all along, that warm and fuzzy welcoming feel it had from the very beginning has been eroding through the years....whether its the grind of being in the restaurant biz or something else..who knows???...we'll probably go once in April to check it out...but either way, no big deal...lots of great choices.......onward and upward

Now that makes more sense- (I had already edited/deleted my previous post, btw, bc. I had reconsidered what I had written.)

so surprised and so sorry to read the 2 negative experiences.
if that attitude continues, their popularity
will no longer continue.
we ate there 2-3 times a week during february,
with a warm greeting nightly and great food:
mozzarella and tomatoes, duck or sashimi or
pizza or calzone or shrimp...just delicious!

marybeth, i also had the mussels special and loved it!
they made no mistakes, either in food or service or attitude.
new waitress, manu, who previously worked @ ti st. barth
is beautiful, always friendly and helpful!

to avoid the smokers, we always chose the first
table for 2 near the front. it made the smoking
a little less offensive.

btw, ownership didn't change.
brother of jean louis is still the chef.
the brothers had a falling out.
jean louis is still a partner,
but he is no longer @ l'entracte.
he opened central park and is
exclusively there.

Re: "that warm and fuzzy welcoming feel it had"

Well I wouldn't go that far. In the old "Che Guevera" days, we were frowned on as touristas and it showed. Yet, the service was there and the food worth it. Last few times there, service could at best be described as snotty. I pity the fool who "disses" Rosita.

Voosh...JL was extremely hospitable back in the beginning...bought us drinks....lots of laughter...even hung my personalized license plate over his cash register because I always used to tell him "its all about the cha ching of the register" when discussing us both working in tourism ( at the time I was in food as well )...the vibe of the place was great......

We dined there twice in February. We were very graciously welcomed at the bar by the bartender, whom we were told was the new owner and the brother of Jean Louis. The first night we were there, we didn't even have a reservations (gasp, this isn't our usual modus operandi but somehow time got away from us that night) ...yet we were offered a drink while they cleared a table, and seated shortly after. The waitress was very sweet, the service was pretty good but the service in Le Entracte has always been a bit slow so it was really no different. The food was as good as ever. The second night we were there, a woman fainted and a French Doc was in the house and he came to her rescue after which an ambulance came and took her away. The restaurant staff was a bit busy with tending to this. But the service still continued, albeit a bit slower and the food was great that night as well.

The place was packed both times we were there, as well as every time we walked past it. It happens to be one of our favorites .... we love the mix of locals in with the tourists. I hope whatever issues they have get resolved because I hate to see it go the way of some of our other casual favorites, L'Escale, Le Saladerie and Le Rivage.

Best pizza on the island. As Cheri said, we had dinner there twice in February. Service was good, staff friendly, beer cold, pizza great--perfect!

Rosita,

I've only had the pleasure of meeting once but I wouldn't worry about anyone thinking you were a bad person.

Rosita,
T'en fais pas. Tu as, comme tout le monde, droit a tes opinions. Bon je sais qu'ici il y a des personnes qui rendent ca difficile parfois mais que faire...Je dis toujours vivre et laisses vivre.... Ras le bol!

I'm guessing dla didn't leave a 20% tip?

Its really interesting how spotty the service can be in some of the restos. Great one day and Horrible the next. There are only a handful of places that I can bank on for great food & great service.
