After 24 years of enjoyable meals on St Barts my family recently had an absolutely dreadful experience at L'Entracte (formerly Ku De Ta). We had ordered one entree and two pizzas along with appetizers. The pizzas came burned and we sent them back, only to be challenged and ridiculed by the staff. Thinking we did not understand French they spoke about us in an insulting way, pointing and jeering. When I complained to the Head Waiter, he said, "Go someplace else!" In this economy it is hard to believe that anyone could be that stupid.
That sounds terrible. We just ate there on Thursday, they had a mussel special (choice of three sauces) and it was great. My only complaint about the place was that the smoking ban is apparently not in effect there. Otherwise, our service was good and the food excellent.
I have eaten there countless times without any problems. A year or two ago I ordered something to try and when it showed up I didn't really care for it. The owner overheard me and offered something else even though I hadn't asked.
I do agree with the smoking problem, but it's in a lot of places.
Dined there for years...once last week. Never anything close to that experience, however, owner Jean Louis (always a fixture at the bar....available to handle any issues) now runs his new place called Central Park.
There was a brother-brother team that operated L'Entracte for many years. The "front of the house" brother departed to start Central Park, all of whose reviews have contained the word, "weird."
FWIW, L'Entracte was full when we walked past there tonight on our way home from a great dining experience at Eddy's.
Ate there two nights ago. Eileen ordered the duck rare. When it came out, the duck was well done. I told the waitress about it and she thought she said well done. She quickly returned with a new plate of duck rare and apologised profusely.
Tange(sp) the new manager who knows use for years bought us two glasses of champagne on the house and also apologized.
when he first opened up he was the bartender and a very good bartender at that...Wendi and I had a lot of fun at the bar into the wee hours with JL tending bar...through the years he got more involved with the floor instead of the bar and he also got a lot moodier and grumpy....but the food was always very good as was the service
The first night on our first and only trip to date, Karen and I met up with Mike & Wendy and Martinfor a meal and a little advice on the lay of the land as it were. A simple meal of pizza, wine and gracious company with good service. A few days later we popped in for lunch before a sail and scubba trip out of la Marine. We were a little pressed for time with only about an hour or so for lunch. We explained our situation to our waiter and everything went downhill from there. Nothing in the form of food found it's way to our table in the next 45-50 minutes and the likelyhood of it happening in the next 5 minutes was pretty obvious by the manner of our waiter.
Lesson learned was .... your on French Time not American Time and requests for special service are not appreciate nor granted. So we just got up and left and went about our afternoon sail. Rumor has it, it's best not to eat before swimming so we didn't and REALLLLLLY enjoyed the wine, cheese and crackers on the sail back from Il Forchue.
dla described his/her experience the way it was perceived. For a dining experience the perception becomes the reality. Just because others might have had different experiences doesn't diminish dla's review. The site owes gratitude to all who post reviews whether they be bad or good.
One complaint I've heard several times about L'Entracte is that they allow smoking everywhere. For those who are sensitive to smoke, that alone could ruin the experience.
I do have the same experience
JP and I are "local"
we are very good guest of the restaurant since long time because we love the pizza of Jean-Pierre!
after "two" terrible time with bad service and feel not welcome at all
we are decid to not go there no more
we discover there was a other place were they are making good pizza and were the " ambiance" is friendly
sorry Mike and Tim but this is the real reality of that restaurant right now
just hope they will change "attitude" very soon
