Day 4

Kind of rainy start today, good for my already tan hide. Head to Petite Colombe around 6:30 to beat the early crowd….. not happening. Scooters like fireflies & workmen heading to start their Monday. Some look a little tired & heading into the usual Monday grind…. MONDAY GRIND, here! It’s gotta be tough on an island like this to work while everyone (us) is going over their dinner plans at 7 AM & hope they can get a parking spot at the beach. Sat & enjoyed a coffee & pastry inside ….. of course grabbed extra to take back with us to find only 2 made it back without being half eaten. Couldn’t figure out what the 40-50 loaves in a few huge bags next to the garage door were for, looking like seconds or possibly day old stuff, looks good to me. More pastry, yogurt & my fruit of the day from Super U… pineapple today on the balcony. Looks a little rainy so hang at the pool till noonish before a St Jean beach hour or 2. Yea that huge catamaran is parked there still? Grabbed a juice drink, sans the alcohol from the Pearl Beach bar. Thumbed thru their menu & probably will dine there and his week. Menu basic & reasonable. Planes flying out basically 2 at a time, bummer for those leaving, not many happy leaving paradise. Got a nice rainbow, rather low in the sky & started into a double, ahh St Barths it’s done right!
It’s dinner in tonight with a pasta meal from the freezer section & green beans ( ah la Koop ) my own special culinary classic, actually maybe my only culinary classic since Andra has taken over most kitchen duties except I seen to get that dish duty regularly. It was an awesome meal in a bag, leaps ahead of my grocery back home & the beans put it over the top….. OK you can all stop laughing. Couldn’t even have our nightly ice cream, stuffed.

I’m trying to master the art of doing nothing, but that is a lot of work, I’m trying… but failing.

That art takes practice and commitment, Koops. I have faith you will get there. Ahhh, St Barth!

Problem is I’m a doer. We have a farm in Illinois, hence… lot of work. I work for a very large school district, 3 guys 70 schools & they work us hard. I’m conditioned to be consistently moving. Even when I come here I’m cleaning the pool & picking up. I could pull a Howard Finch and yell out the window “ I’m mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore” you might remember the movie Network. Problem is nobody would understand what I’m saying’s and throw yesterday’s quiche at my window.

I’m working on it my friend

I get it . . . a funny movie line & understand the difficulty in winding-down when away from the usual routine. However, I urge you to get in the pool (maybe with a beverage) . . . take a deep breath . . . count to 10 . . . and open your eyes to the view & smell the ambiance of your SBH life. Life's great . . . while we still have it!

I totally get the "sitting" thing; it is not an easy transition..I think you just need more "sitting" practice, as Amy says! 😂 Thank you for the great report! Nothing like Super U frozen food around here..such a lovely convenience! If it is French, it MUST be good!!😊

The island bakeries deliver to the supermarkets, so that could explain the bags of bread waiting to be delivered... I don't think they have seconds or day-old, usually sold out by the end of the day...
