Could St. Barth ever have a restaurant worth of a Michelin star?

Oh, and if you've ever had the pleasure of dining at Chez Kimberly & Kona (esp when those bay scallops are around) you'll get where she's coming from. Plus, she makes a mean margarita!!! LOLOL

As Kona stated the other morning………You are the only person that has a 7 hour cocktail party:). Sorry we missed you on the big 50. Laying low and enjoying Kona being here. PM me at let me know what you guys are up to. kr

When I'm on vacation, pretty much every meal is great, because, well.....I'm on vacation!

I think an important component of a great meal is the attitude you bring to it. Being relaxed, unhurried, and away from your day-to-day grind, goes a long way towards your enjoyment of the experience. While I have had technically better meals elsewhere, I usually enjoy my SBH meals more, because I'm more relaxed there than elsewhere. I'm also usually in the company of people I really like, and the good conversation and laughter always brings the entire experience up a notch.

PS- I really didn't have anything to add, but am waaaaay behind MikeR in the post department, and need to make a move...

PPS- The best meal I've had there is one Mike prepared, but it included good friends, good wine, good conversation, and lots of laughter...

When I'm on vacation, pretty much every meal is great, because, well.....I'm on vacation! An exception was noted in an earlier thread, but I can say without hesitation that we enjoy our time on vacation---when at the beach, when being lazy at the villa, when eating out (long lunches are a favorite). We don't do that at home. When I'm on vacation I'm just going with the flow. No over-analyzing.......Have fun, have some laughs, be free!:) A sandwich on Saline is fantastic. A few hundred Euros for lunch, that can be just as great. If we want to talk about favorites, I think one of my most favorite meals was last time at La Plage. I'm not a people-watcher by any means, and I wouldn't even have recognized who the guy was unless someone had texted me....but Tom said LET'S EAT, and we were seated next to the famous Chef. It was hilarious...I ordered everything he did, just for FUN. I even snuck in some candid photos. Not about the see and be seen, just plain old, good fashioned funny day fun, fun, fun. It's all about the attitude, sometimes....The food and service and ambiance didn't suck either

I concur.
We rarely have lunch together in regular life, so lunch in St. Barth is a treat! Even if the service is a little slower than one might prefer. We consider it "Island Time". In six 1 week plus visits to St. Barth, I have never seen anyone I recognized as "famous". And I don't really care. That's not why I come to St. Barth (although I wouldn't mind meeting Jimmy Buffett). My husband and I come here to enjpy the warm weather in the winter, the opportunity to spend time with one another, the beaches, the food and the French wine we can't get at home.
We love the island for its safety and great beaches and good food and great wine!

Okay, maybe I need to clarify the safety comment. This is the first time we have ever had an issue on the island, and my husband's brand new iPhone 6 was stolen from its hiding place under our rental car at the Columbier lookout parking area as my husband was trying to beat the record for the under 50 Columbier run.
Other than that, we have never had an issue on the island.

..

agree 100% with you and Katva ......but a bad expensive meal is a bad expensive meal regardless of how much vacation euphoria you got going on under your hood at the moment and it's still a buzz kill......

we can't think of a better place to enjoy a SBH meal then on our patio over the water....our food cooked our way accompanied by our music and completely private .....we re not looking to make new friends on vacation so we ll pass on the whole social aspect of eating out thank you very much......we re just looking to spend quality time with each other first and foremost, and having great meals together, both out and in, is part of the formula ....something that doesn't happens often enough in our real lives with our crazy schedules

We cook at home almost every day so when we are on vacation I try to cook dinner as little as possible so a good meal in the restaurant is a must. I suppose if we stayed longer I would probably do some dinners at the villa but not yet. Maybe next time.
