Colombier from below.

why people have to be profane

Strictly speaking, that’s not being profane but vulgar. It’s a vulgar term, not at all profane. Vulgarity versus profanity. If one is going to use fancy words, one should use the correct term.

Actually, used as a verb, profane could fit:
verb:treat (something sacred) with irreverence or disrespect.

As in, “ Those people profaned my island.”

Second meaning:
to debase by a wrong, unworthy, or vulgar use

Personally, I don’t like people profaning my sacred island. It’s personal😊.🥰
And they were vulgar to boot.😖

Dennis; as you know Denise and I are coming to St. Barts again. Every thing we have enjoyed from the 1980's until now seem to be going downhill. The other way to get to Colombier is quite a hike. We are in our 70's and thank God are both in good shape. Others may not be that lucky. Hopefully there will be a change of heart from the owner.
At least we have our memories from the '80's and '90's. Those of us who were regulars back then are very fortunate to have been a part of it.

The graffiti is disgusting. I would want to find out who did it and make them clean it. You would think on a little island, word gets around…
I get your point, but I'm more disgusted by the path being closed. The path from the topic is too dangerous/strenuous, and not every one has a yacht. This is truly a case of two wrongs don't make a right.

For some reason I was under the impression that the top path goes through private property. This is why we always elected to use the bottom path as I thought that was more acceptable. I guess not.

Maybe it's just a matter of time before Colombier is closed off to everyone without boat access.

From the Collectivité, translation by Google:

REOPENING OF THE COLOMBIER BEACH PATH
President Xavier LEDEE received the protagonists today, following the obstruction of the access path to Colombier beach by Flamands, on the Petite Anse side.
It was decided to leave a passage for walkers within 24 hours.
During the discussions, the formal ban on using this path with vehicles and leaving it as it is after each passage was recalled.

No résolutions yet. The sign is reinstalled and no permission granted from owner.

In the Journal he is quoted voicing his concerns for public safety especially after the tourist death last year.
The parking situation is indeed insane, no guardrail or curb to stop vehicles from falling from the cliff.

In Petite Anse, the entrance to the path that leads to Colombier beach is still barred by concrete blocks and signs that mean that it is private property

There are some newer looking barricades but the path is easily accessed on both sides of them. We walked there today. There are some super cute newborn chicks just beyond the entrance too!

the path is grandfather'ed in, nothing the land owners can do will ever change that. go over or around the concrete blocks. or if you have nothing else to do bring a sledge hammer and pulverize the blocks.

interesting. has the com weighed in to confirm that ?

Officials in the Collectivité have verbally confirmed it to me . . . it seems to be, however, an issue fraught with political implications which the current Council does not want to publicly confront.
