Thanks Kevin,
Outstanding update.
Back in 122 days.
How about a walk down memory lane re:Le Rivage? We had dinner there almost every night for the first 8 years until it got leveled. Bruno, the manager and Silvie, Head of the wait staff went back to France and married. Some of our fondest memories were of the friendships and wonderful cuisine there. Any others want to weigh in?
Mike,
I’ll be about a week behind you. I first met Bruno and Sylvie when they worked at Marigot Bay Club. I looked forward to seeing them each November at Le Rivage, but they would sometimes not return to the island before I left. I’m glad to hear that they married.

Wow, I thought I might have hallucinated it. My favorite meal on my previous visit (in 94) was at Vincent Adam but haven't heard or seen any mention of it since I started planning my just completed trip. Where was it located? I seem to remember being up in the hills somewhere.
Bart,
Vincent Adam was down the road across from the Eden Rock, and up on the hillside to the left. I remember the Pomme D’Amour Sauce that they had. Gilles gave me the recipe one night, with both of us attempting to do the French-English translation. We got stuck on Cerfeuil, which Gilles assured me sounded pretty much the same in English. I ransacked bookstores on the island (few!) looking for a better French-English dictionary than the pocket one that I carry. It turned out to be Chervil. The Chef, Pierre, was back on the island a few years ago as the Chef at Zanzibarth, which is now Le Z.
In the 25 years that I have been visiting I can remember three major restaurant fires. I think that it is safe to say that it is an uncommon occurrence.

We were married in St Barth on December 11, 1992. The pre-wedding dinner was at Le Fregate at the Bay des Flamands. Gone. Thanks to hurricane Luis. The wedding party took place at Le Rivage (the old Rivage) with the back wall open to the tennis court which was strung with color lights and made into a dance floor. Also gone. And the dinner was catered by Gilles at Vincent Adam, where we also held my father's 70th birthday party the next night. Also gone... but the memories live on!
Ellen, in light of your post, may I respectfully suggest a short list of restaurants that I request that you avoid?

I remember Le Frigate, as well as an exquisite Millefeuille that I had there. I also fondly remember the pre-Luis Le Reviage, as well as my first post-Luis meal there with Michel and Therese Ledee from the Marigot Bay Club.
