With some valid reason, I think, Eve. I have found that Bonito — like Maya’s, historically — is something of a lightening rod of pros & cons. Not to switch off bagels, but we always are torn about trying Bonito

I agree. I am not fond of Bonito however Cheryl loves it. Last year we sat at the first table on the right after check in and watched the amazing energy at the bar. While we booked a table in May we are going to sit at the bar this go around. We are bar people. I am sure I will enjoy the scene from the middle of the resto. We had dinner at Bonito Sunday night. Everything was really nice. The waiter brought the bill and said “I’m sorry to ask, but would you like to leave a tip.”

That is why we will sit at the bar this time. Will let you knowWe stopped going to Bonito. We liked sitting on the edge looking at harbor but we were always to close to people next to us. Made for forced conversation. Plus it got too overly fussy for our likes. We don’t t care who sees us or who we see. Sure people love it but not us.
We too stopped going to Bonito for dinner. The menu rarely changed (it likely has more recently), prices kept climbing and we always felt rushed. We still occasionally go for cocktails as the bar is lovely for sunset and the room beautiful. When Carl Gustaf reopened, it became our first choice for sunset, along with the lighthouse or hospital park. Of note for those who visit Aspen, a friend who spends the winter in Snowmass has been several times to Bonito’s sister restaurant Betula in Aspen. While extremely pricey, she said every meal she’s had there has been excellent. We stopped going to Bonito.
