Another one we've missed in the past, this was a nice change from all the previous week's tartare's. Got into Gustavia a bit early, so stopped at Bar De L'Oubli for an aperitif before heading over to Black Ginger. Seated under an open roof and started off with a spicy "Thai Margarita" and "Cucumber Martini". For an entrée we shared a plate of chicken and shrimp (two of each) dim sum with a nice bottle of "Les Poete" Pouilly-Fumé. Too hungry to take a picture, but the dumplings were a good start. Lynn had the pork with Thai basil and I the yellow curry "Catch of the day" (Mahi-mahi). Both were quite good, with a nice, not overpowering, amount of heat. About midway through the meal the rain started and the scramble was on to close the roof. Reminds me of a dinner or two next door at Orega. The desert was a coconut tarte and ice cream. Again very good, but not a big fan of shredded coconut although Lynn is. Arriving with the check were two shots of a coffee liquor, rhum and vodka concoctions. Leaving we noticed two couples we met the other night at Zion, so had a chance to chat a bit before heading back to the villa. My standard policy is "I don't go to St Barth to eat...", but Black Ginger was a nice change.
If you like a bit of spice, this is a good margarita.
