Beaches and Sargassum

Beach report for whatever it’s worth…early this morning both sides of St Jean beach pristine. Lorient has been clear since arrival last week. Just went to Saline, some older dried sargassum along beach, some parts more than others. Didn’t look like too much recent cleanup. Some in the water mostly at each end, a few people swimming toward center which looked clear. A local friend told us today that a lot more sargassum is on its way, not sure if perhaps news via coconut telegraph?
Otherwise weather breezy and beautiful, island blissfully quiet.
Thanks let’s keep this going until July 1. Actually I don’t care about the reports. One day full one day clean. Who cares. I am in paradise. St. Barth is the vacation that keeps on giving.

We are coming in 2 weeks. We heard that Saline was covered???? Any one wants to update... Any comment on any beach would be appreciated.....
We were on the island in May when Saline had plenty of sargassum on the beach but the water was absolutely clean and great, the communal services were removing sargassum couple of times a week

Flamands has taken a hit the past few days. Today the sargassum was sporadic and easily manageable. 2 days ago there were crazy blankets of the menace. The upside is that no one is on beach, it’s like a private paradise! The sargassum blankets were gone by noon. The sargassum that washes up is usually gone the next day. If it doesn’t get swept out it dries up quickly. Last year , sargassum was quickly swept up by the collective. Not so much this year.

Your name rang a bell. Looks like communicated about the VDD several years ago. Are you staying there now?

Another report that will likely change by tomorrow… we had not visited Gouverneur this trip (though a favorite) bc last visit it was covered and given winds lately assumed it would again have sargassum. Heard over the weekend that it was fine last week so went for an early swim this morning. Water at cove by entrance clear as was the very far end but in between—probably 2/3 of beach had enough sargassum that you wouldn’t want to swim. Not too much actually on the beach, more on far end than the rest.
We are on Lorient and all clear. I did see some sargassum at western (reef) end this morning but all to the east is fine. Windy and beautiful today.
