Beach Beach what #$@$% Beach

Ate at La Plage today. A week or so ago there was very little beach, but you could still sit at the bar and stay dry. Today you can't get to the restaurant by the pedx path you need to go via the hotel and the bar is awash. The waves are breaking against the wall of Bleu Outre Mer next door.

Bill,
This is only a temporary problem. In fifty years the beach will revert back to a pristine condition. If I were investigating a holiday in SBH I would run, not walk to St. Croix. Make that fly not boat.

Andy, its been a wind and wave beating from the north. I would go to the southside when you get there.

I've been looking at your pictures bin, and I am amazed at ma nature's powers. The cozy spot where I parked my chair and my laptop just two months ago isn't there anymore... How long did it take to move all that sand? Weeks, days?

and for comparing - bins picture is here

Bill, It was this way last year at the same time. By early March things
had improved dramatically.I suspect you should see the same this year..Jimmy

BEACHES CLOSED IN ST. BARTHELEMY DUE TO EROSION

I say again. Run away! Run away!

Re: BEACHES CLOSED IN ST. BARTHELEMY DUE TO EROSION

Are you cancelling your trip for the end of Feb?

JEK is absolutely correct. At the current rate of erosion, the runway will be only half its current length by the end of next week, and most of the island's hotels will be submerged. Flights and reservations must be changed for other islands while there is still time! Trust me on this.

Re: BEACHES CLOSED IN ST. BARTHELEMY DUE TO EROSION

Well, I am renting in the hills, per usual. I can helicopter in and keep to the restaurants with the higher locations. And Vitet is, bien sur, a lovely beach.

At near $70/day, Mokes are not cheap!

Re: Checklist for my last visit to St.Barths in March

Then I better stick with a small paddle boat...$70/day is high to me for anything.

Re: Checklist for my last visit to St.Barths in March

no KathandVance.....these guys are just being meanies and trying to scare newbies....ignore them...I will be on the island for the day on April 3rd and fully intend to have my usual C Note sushi plate, served to me on a rented bed, at Nikki Beach while they rake the sand beneath my feet....and all will be right with the St Jean beach and the world as we know it

Re: Checklist for my last visit to St.Barths in March

Mike R Tell us more about the Sushi at Nikki Beach my fiance and I are big sushi fans, is this the place to go, and where else can we find some excellent sushi, also we have our sxm to sbh flight booked with Winair should we cancel this or should we just go with the flow, and keep it booked. All this talk is making me wonder what the heck to do.

Re: Checklist for my last visit to St.Barths in March

ahem....I was being facetious....an inside joke...sorry...the sushi at the Baz Bar in Gustavia is better if you ask me....I was making a funny, as last year friends of ours went to Nikki beach for a sushi lunch and spent over a hundred, including 8 bucks a beer and a 12 dollar plate of fries for their kid, and they said it was just an "ok lunch"....while we went across thre street and had a magnificent lunch at Kiki y Mo for about 20 bucks....dont worry aout the beach..it will be there when you go...I promise
