My recollection is that you’ll find most shops closed, and most restaurants open for Fête Nationale, aka Bastille Day. Marché U will likely have one store open, either the main store or U Express in Lorient. I don’t know what Monoprix will do. Check Le News on the days before the 14th.
There will be fireworks at 20:00 on that night, somewhere around Gustavia. Last year the fireworks were launched from a barge instead of from the hilltop above the Gendarmerie, which made viewing from many of the usual spots impossible. The fireworks have been said by some to have been less than impressive for the last 2 years.
