Bar-B-Que closed?

My friend Diana reported to me that she thought the Bar-B-Que restaurant had closed. Will some of you folks travelling down in the next few days accept the mission of verifying the situation with this place?

I assume you mean the one in Gustavia...

We drove right by it yesterday and it had a big reconstruction sign outside (with a list of architects and all). It looked closed at the time, but that was about 3pm in the afternoon. Next time we pass by we'll take a look to see if it is closed during the work or not.

I've heard it opening as a

BBQ closed as of Saturday, April 8. I haven't heard yet what the new restaurant will be, just that it will still be a restaurant, but will not be BBQ.

JEK - Please strike it from the list. We're down to 88 places to eat or get takeout.

Only 88 places? That does it! I'm putting my house on the market immediately.

Mike,

Ashes somewhere beneath Saline? Is this truly your after-life wish, and are we talking six feet under here or doggy- digging depth? A friend requested a couple of years ago that I be a part of the ceremony for distributing her departed husband's ashes on the island. Next thing I knew she showed up on St. Barth with a new boyfriend in tow, and I never heard what happened to hubby's charcoal. It's important to be specific in these funereal desires, and you've got me pondering my disposal instructions.

Re: Bar-B-Que Review

It can't close until I give my review from February- it was OK. Now it can close.

Sacrilege Miker! Ya gotta make the effort to get the dialogue right:

Vincent: And you know what they call a... a... a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?
Jules: They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with cheese?
Vincent: No man, they got the metric system. They wouldn't know what the f**k a Quarter Pounder is.
Jules: Then what do they call it?
Vincent: They call it a Royale with cheese.
Jules: A Royale with cheese. What do they call a Big Mac?
Vincent: Well, a Big Mac's a Big Mac, but they call it le Big-Mac.
Jules: Le Big-Mac. Ha ha ha ha. What do they call a Whopper?
Vincent: I dunno, I didn't go into Burger King.

Josh...sorry...but I dont usually Google..I try, hard as it is sometimes, to rely on my memory..I think Google is going to turn our brains into pudding if we rely on it too much and not work it out with our memory cells...

Tim..I dont know man...I go back and forth on where my ashes should go....I have the most consecutive years with the waters of St Barts ( 26 ) and the waters around P Town (21 )..one for pleasure...and one for work... and I love them both dearly and equally........maybe I'll make everyone crazy and make them go half and half....LOL..anyway did you ever do ashes??...its amazing what that stuff looks like..i did a friend off P town...he was a big boy and it took many many scoops!

When we visited Le BarBQue in February we had a very nice meal and liked the ambiance as well...We also were told by someone (can't remember who) that every two or three years that particuliar place changes and that it was happening soon...guess they knew what they were talking about!

Bev,

I too enjoyed the BarBQue on numerous occasions.

TLM,

Speaking of barbecue, MikeR's gotten me thinking. I think I want my ashes released at the peak of Grand Fond if the wind's blowing. That's the first hill I struggled up on an old bike, and I continue to do it almost daily when in St. B. If the wind's not blowing, I'm not sure where I want to go, but I'll think about it. I don't want to end up as a heap on the side of the road like a pile of goat droppings. Hopefully it's not a decision that's imminent.
