Artist Supplies and Dan's Art Work

Jim, These are fantastic... Watercolor continues to allude me. Has Dan traveled with his Acrylics before? Just wondering if there are hassles with security about the paints?

About 3 years ago on a trip to St. Barth a friend had no trouble getting her small tubes of acrylics through security in her carry on. Recall that she had them in a small clear sandwich baggie. No problems were encountered from SFO to SXM. Hopefully Jim will have more input regarding Dan traveling with his acrylics.

Jim, would love to see them in person in Philly sometime, really lovely work.... captures the spirit of the island so nicely.....

Ellen...let us know when you're next in town!

Dan does not bring his acrylics to the island...only watercolors and pastels, so we can't comment on any security issues with tubes of acrylics. I would think they'd be OK in packed luggage.

Thought it might be fun to share my first attempt at a St Barts beach. I did this from a photo and please keep in mind I just started oil painting a few months ago. But I don't think it's half bad. image.jpg

Very nice, Kelly! I SO admire those who have this kind of creative outlet. You got the colors of the sea just PERFECT!

The punchy colors almost seem surreal in comparison to our San Diego ocean scapes. But my minds eye knew them to be correct as they have been seared into memory. Makes me want to walk over the crest of the hill and join the swimmer in the water.

;D So relaxing to paint. You should give it a try.

Maybe one day. In the meantime, I'll stick with fine art photography.

Now you see why I want to figure out how to get my paints on island. Ti Punches for 2 (or 4 ;)) and a paint brush in hand with a view to die for sounds heavenly.
