I fly out at 11:25. Had a dip in the pool, and enjoying the last cup of coffee, while gazing off at the incredible view I've had for the last 12 days.
As usual, this trip didn't disappoint. I feel rested and energized. My senses have been re-tuned. Sights, smells, and sounds have a new poignancy, the result of letting the day come at it's own pace, rather than forcing it. Listening to far off roosters... Hearing lizards slither through the underbrush... Watching birds hover in the wind... How the sea-shaped rocks, at Toiny, go from a dull monotony to a myriad of colors after a rain... The sound of creaking hulls while sitting by the docks... Seeing the symmetry in nature... The caress of the wind, after being in the water... I could go on, and on...
For me, all of these things will come back, as I spend the next few months in the darkroom, and painting in the studio. I feel fortunate, indeed.
As I complete new work, I'll be posting it to my Facebook photo page. Click "like" if you want to see 'em.
