I see that Boys will be Boys......but "the Club" sounds like it could be fun :). Do you hold the club meetings at Saline? I hope so... as I have something special planned for my first trip to Saline :

It's in august and so, I won't be there. will you be posting photos for the benefit of those of us (most of us?) that will not be there?

Speaking of boys will be boys - anyone heard from Binnie??

He said he is very busy and hasn't been able to post for a while. Good he is busy- he has a very nice restaurant and deserves it.

We don't have any pigs. We raise squirrels for the Philly market - they don't know any better. And what are you doing up so late? Isn't it time to take your Easter dog for a walk in preparation for grilling him and eating it for Easter? LOL

Tini- Rent a car, it's the best way to see the island. Taxis are expensive and don't operate at night...and you don't wanna miss the nightlife.

Just ignore all these dirty old men -
seriously back to your question - Toiny is lovely but - you will be out at the end of the world - if you want to be closer to the "action' think of a villa in St. Jean, or the Eden Rock or the Carl Gustaf. There's not a lot of "action" per se in August -- I assume - having been in July - but there is nothing BUT Le Toiny out there - - regardless of the season - lots of other options in St. Jean or Gustavia. Have fun - it's a wonderful place no matter where you stay!

Re: St. Barths Newbie -- Villa Advice

You are likely to find that there are more European visitors in August, and fewer American visitors.

Re: St. Barths Newbie -- Villa Advice

Welllllllllllll.......................

Now that you have been completely swamped by the gang I'll try to toss in a small portion of insight with 1 trip under our belt. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone and go searching for villas that provide a car in the off season summer months. If you are or were willing and able to bear the daily price of Eden Rock your choises should be wide. For me half the fun of booking the trip is the "villa search" and a trip to the island requires a week or two bouncing around, jammin gears and burnin up the clutch in a Suzuki. You'll be a better person for it.

Welcome to the ship wreck and never feel you can't dish it out 'cause the rest of this crew feeds on it.

Enjoy,

Gregg

You can rent a beautiful private villa on St. Jean Beach with a pool or a jacuzzi and be a few steps from restaurants and bars with cool drinks and other people. Two villas come immediately to mind.
1) Villa Crystal Dream- 3BR 2 BA beachfront with a pool, rented through St. Barth Properties.Contemporary furnishings and fixtures
2) Villa Reverie- 3BR 3 1/2 BA beachfront with a jacuzzi, rented through Marla Real Estate(even though only a jacuzzi,it's my preference)brand new, very unusual zenlike design, elevated deck with 180 degree fabulous views of St. Jean beach.

These villas are next door to one another and located between La Plage(Tom Beach Hotel), a very hip spot for drinks, breakfast, lunch, dinner and live music, and Eden Rock, walking distance to Nikki Beach, Andy's,Le Piment,Bacardi Cafe,Zanzibarth,Glacier,La Rotisserie, and numerous boutiques selling tinibikinis, perfume, clothing, housewares, etc. An ideal location and better value than Eden Rock, without giving up anything in the way of luxury.
