Condolences to Tim’s family. He was one of the very first to welcome me to this forum. I enjoyed so very much spending island time with Tim and his wife Rickey. No one ever enjoyed more a Dame Blanche for dessert at Andy’s Hideaway! R I P old friend.

Very sad news. Tim and I spent many a July morning watching the Tour de France - rooting for Lance Armstrong before we knew he was a fraud - and hearing exploits about Tim and his bicycle on the some of the island's biggest hills... we first met Amy and Phil at Tim's house in Vitet, watching a NFL game and Amy changed into her Giants uniform at halftime - those were the days !

Without diminishing respect for Tim — & far apart from admiration of respect for Tim’s extraordinary strength & commitment to bicycling the island — I wish that I might have had a conversation with Tim about Lance Armstrong's “fraud.” I “get” the assessment . . . especially as Armstrong acknowledged ”doping,” as viewed in those days. I think the story, however — like so many, with many sides in it — isn’t complete without considering the following:Very sad news. “Perhaps most telling is the fact that when Armstrong was stripped of his Tour de France victories, the race organisers chose not to award the winners titles to any of his rivals. How far would they have needed to go down the race standings to find a rider who was clean, given that so many of the top riders were using performance enhancing substances. His years on the bike may have been characterised by fraud and lies, but in the end the only unremarkable thing about Armstrong’s otherwise remarkable career was that he took drugs.”

Like so many issues in life —IMO —there are at least two sides to every story. L‘est I wind-up sometime on the downside of a story, I prefer to remind that the difference between right & wrong often depends on who holds the microphone.

Happy to discuss Lance at a later date; my point here was that Tim and I were very disappointed in his ultimate confession and dethroning after spending so many hours cheering him on tv... then to learn of his doping and duplicity - yes like many of the other riders for sure.

The party at tim's house was one of the great ones! there must have been over 20 people there. I had to stop by Maya's to go to pick up food for the party. I met a lifelong friend at the party who lived near Tim in Vitet. Tim loved st. barths as much as anyone could have. We met on a walk in grand fond. I was walking with my friend Jo-anne, , tim stopped on his bike and said, Hi, my name is tim, where are you ladies going? we chatted a bit and then he tried to recruit us for the sbhonline forum. I accepted of course, and after that we chatted all the time. Happy times for sure!Very sad news.
