A few last minute questions

Hi all. I've been lurking on this forum for a while and decided that it was time to actively participate.

My wife and I are heading back to SBH for our 5th time this Sunday. I have a few questions for the regulars and those on island in the know:

1. What is the status of the road construction in Gustavia and elsewhere?

2. How bad is the seaweed on Saline and Gouverneur's.

3. What happened to Pacri? I know that a new restaurant has opened in its former location in Saline but I heard that Pacri might be repopening in town. Any truth to this rumor?

4. Is L'Esprit in Saline open for lunch this time of year?

5. It seems as though the island has been experiencing higher than usual amount of rain. How bad are the mosquitoes this time of year?

6. Is Eddy's open for the season?

Thanks in advance for your imput on these issues. Can't wait to return to SBH.

Jim,

Welcome to the forum. There have been several threads on the seaweed issue. Those will be the best source of info on that topic.

Welcome to the forum. We are presently on Island, so I can answer your questions.

Road construction in Gustavia is worst around Eddie's, which is open. The seaweed thing is day to day, but we haven't seen anything terrible, although I can only speak first hand about Flamands.

Pacri is now M&P, or Meat and Potatoes. Reports so far seem mixed. L'esprit is rumored to be a new venture by Jean-Claude Dufour, formally the Chef at Eden Rock. It is currently under construction and looks to be at least a month away from opening.

It has been relatively dry this week, and the Mosquito's don't seem to be much of a problem.

We will be here next week so maybe we will run into you.

St Jean got a load of weed yesterday, this morning water is clear. Took a ride to Anse des Cayes this morning....you might say they got just a bit of weed....

Thanks Phil for your quick response. We'll be out and about from the 6th through the 13th. Staying in Grand Fond this time, which will be different. Plan to try M&P, since it will be close.

Great picture Ricky. Hope that stuff blows away. I noticed a new influx of seaweed on the La Plage St. Jean webcam.
