The olive buyer in a local FAIRWAY market is so good-a great assortment, an appealing display, and olives from all over the world.

Sicilian olives dont suck at all....rumor has it they know a thing or two about how to grow olives

Greek are good

When we were in Italy last we went to Gaeta at the recommendation (insistance) of a friend who was born there. They have rich almost buttery olives there, and it seemed every little Salumeria had their own brining recipe. My vote goes to Gaeta olives (but I do love cracked Sicilians too)

I took a picture of it when visiting at the Normandie with Dennis and Wendy. I thought it was charming from the exterior and it would be great to see it as a viable property again.

When I visited an independent roaster in Athens GA his place was no bigger than a 3 car garage-2 spaces for the roasting and coffee tasting bar and 1 space for the mail order office and shipping. Just a thought.

i like those big black olives with the holes in them. they are perfect for putting one on every single finger and then plucking them off, with your mouth, one-by-one when mother came into the dining room threatening to beat me "about the neck and head if i didn't remove them this instant!"

i'm sure the fact that i like these canned yummy bunches of goodness will make some cringe!!!

You know, Kevin . . . that's a great idea. I'll pursue it with Laurent and owner of the property with the Yellow House, part of a local prominent clan (and, I might add, wonderful neighbors to us at the Normandie!).

I remember the "old days" in San Francisco when Folgers Brothers Coffee had its roasting plant not far from Market Street & the Central Business District . . . one of my kick-ass morning experiences was walking in downtown San Francisco, the invigorating bay air infused with the smell of freshly roasting coffee. And I didn't even drink coffee at the time!

I'd love to have that as our neighbor at the Normandie!
