??

No. InquIries take time, longer when the primary information source (Laurent) doesn't seem to be around. But I intend to find out if the new owners plan to restart St Barth Blend, or if they're just doing wine, cheese, charcuterie, and breakfast. I've met the woman before, but not the man. Perhaps I'll venture there this morning...

Did the Coffee Shop in St. Jean close?

C'est Finis.

As best as I can tell, St Barth Blend is no more. The space where they were located is now a wine bar. The new owners also have the space next door, where they have a wine shop. I spoke with the man who I think is the owner, and asked him
about St Barth Coffee. He only wants to talk about Nespresso, which they serve in the wine bar and sell in the store.

I don't know if Laurent is on the island. I've spoken to a mutual friend, and he knows nothing. I've got exactly one connection left to try, which I hope to tap at lunch tomorrow.

Sadly, I think that if you've got any St Barth Blend left then you should savor it. If you're out and Jonesing then try Dunkin Donuts (seriously).

PS The total on-island supply of St Barth Coffee is now 17 bags of decaf. I know - I've been in every food store on the island, including the 2 butchers and American Gourmet.

oh well..such is life......Laurent had some property in Silt, Colorado...just outside of Aspen but Silt is basically a bowl of red rock dust....wonder if he ended up out there

OK. that means I need to pack the Kona in two weeks.
Or just do lattes at Petite Columbe, but that adds up.

Man, you know everything about those islanders, contrary to your bluster :)

LOL...believe me, I know nothing....I happened to see Aspen Colorado on his antique roaster and asked him how he got it, which led to the Silt conversation...usually its "hi"...weather comments..and "bye, have a nice day"....they have enough tourists trying to live vicariously through them....they don't need one more....LOL

Not to digress, but the Dunkin Donuts taste is an east coast thing. I don't think many here in Chicago are fans (except the former NY people).

And now back to the topic -- now that it is gone, any other recommendations? Is Petite Columbe or whatever coffee that Oasis stocks my best bet? Note that as I write this I'm finishing the last of the Kona estate grown purchased last week (actually, there is one more cup in the French press, but I think my wife will get that one). Coffee matters to me.
