. . . or, as the present venue is St. Barths — everyone comes to L’Esprit. I was thrilled last night to see Yo (of ”Yo Sushimania”) at L’Esprit. I can’t say how many years I was a Sunday night fixture at Yo Sushimania! . . . ’til it became “Amnios” last season (which I love, BTW!). While Yo Sushimania, my Sunday night routine there was a habit—a couple of sushi rolls & a shrimp wok. One roll always was savored as I rested with my feet in the pool . . . with a Ti Punch! The rest went home with me — a short, nearby walk to Villa CEC — for Sunday evening “movie night.” Such happy memories.
I’ve been trying to track down Yo . . . he still does an extensive “carry out” menu & provides a lot of packaged items to Monoprix shops. It was, as a result, an enormous pleasure to unexpectedly run into my longtime Sunday night chef & friend & Mrs. Yo. St. Barths — so many changes acknowledged! — still resembles the same great place that has seen me spending time here for 48+ years.
