Which ferry is reasonable to catch

We are late to the game and there are no flights for when we are trying to get to SBH. Our flight lands in SXM at 2:45. Do you think we will be able to catch a 4:00 Voyager with checked bags? After that there’s a 6:15 Greay Bay Express which would put us in a bit later than we would like.

I would appreciate so advice from others who have taken this route! We normally fly but everything is sold out sadly!

Thanks in advance!

Would be extremely tight, any delay encountered either with arrival/luggage and/or traffic to get to Marigot could cause you to miss the boat. I believe you need to be at the port 20min before the boat leaves. I would just do the Great Bay Express or the later Voyager ferry...

You could overnight in SXM and take a morning flight the next day.

Although the ferry trips always create an interesting story.

I would stay at Porto Cupecoy that night, get a great Pizza at Mama Italian Restaurant and pick up a few essentials for the Villa at Carrefour Express before heading over on the early ferry. A lot less stress.

I agree with the others - don't even try the Marigot ferry. We've done it and the traffic is bad or awful.
We also caught a flight out of Grand Case once. Same bad traffic and the taxi driver took us on a
'journey" that almost cost us our connection.

Very helpful and much appreciated. Another question for the group. If we land at SXM at 2:45 pm with checked bags, is a 5:00 pm flight out of Grand Case to SBH too risky? How about without checked bags?

Possible but, if your flight is late and there is a lot of traffic from Juliana to Grand Case you might not make the flight - could be very stressful.

Thank you for the replies. Our children (who are young adults) are landing in SXM at 1:00 pm so they should easily be able to get to Grand Case to make a 5:00 pm flight. We, of course, are the ones who don't get in to SXM until 2:45 pm and have the narrow window. I want them to get to the island and settle in so we can all enjoy our first night dinner at Eddy's together but as the hosts, it would be preferable if my husband and I weren't having to wait for the 6:15 pm ferry. Does anyone have any experience with the "wait list" for St. Barth Commuter out of SXM? The flights are all full but they indicated there is no one on the 4:45 pm flight wait list so we would be the first 2 but I don't have any experience with whether there is any movement on those waitlists. Perhaps we need to ask St. Barth Commuter the question but I didn't know if anyone had insight. Thanks!

How many adults? Four? Do a charter with SBC if possible, Winair if SBC isn't available. We've done that several times with our family in similar situations over the years with excellent experiences. It's more expensive than four SBC tickets, not much more than four Winair tickets, and well worth the cost.

you don't say which day you are flying in. Eddy's new season will begin towards the latter part of october. I would try for the 4 pm ferry in marigot. if you miss it, then there is always the later ferry. simple , there is a nice waiting area at the marigot ferry

It had become more difficult to ge a SBC flight, even during off season and months in advance. And, it's always a crapshoot if you get to SXM on time with all the delays in the US airports. Then finding that last flight out on SBC with the number of available seats is stressful. Next time 🤞 we'll spend the night in St. Martin then connect with a next day morning SBC flight.

it sounds like your home airport doesn't have direct flights to SXM?
we have that disadvantage and are generally connecting in SJU not SXM but have opted for late afternoon flights to CLT with an overnight at an airport hotel then a morning flight to SJU (or SXM) for an early afternoon Tradewind or SXM carrier flight to SBH.
we really prefer not to arrive early morning at SBH before the villa is ready to receive us.

We land in SXM on Saturday, 11/21 for the week of Thanksgiving. First time going for Thanksgiving week (have done twenty trips over the years with just my husband and another couple (we rotated them over the years) usually in January, sometimes March). Have never had any issues getting flights on Winair or SBC until this visit. My guess is that it is a busy week for people with families so all flights out of SXM booked and we inquired about a charter with SBC and they indicated they don't have any, all taken. Our kids land in SXM earlier in the day and we booked them flights out of Grand Case. My husband and I are on the waitlist for the SBC flight out of SXM and will take the 6:15 ferry if that doesn't work out. We'll make it to first night dinner one way or another, preferably not coming in hot on the ferry.
