Up early, we typically have breakfast on our terrace right after a plage walk with something tasty from Petite Colombe, but the first morning of our January vacation we decided wait and spluge a little.

Caroline and I had not been here for a while and our villa Guests I recommend it to tell me they enjoy the experience.

At 48E pp, the tariff was a good value considering the views, fare and ambiance which included a small jazz ensemble playing standards.

A pair of seatings at 11 and 1 (ours was the early one) which became pretty full so I'd advise booking well in advance since Guests of the hotel are offered first priority, I'm told. It's a very nice presentation along with a person who makes eggs and omelettes to order brought to the table---service was very good.

We left room for desserts that came out later by the pastry chef.

Afterward, we took time by the pool and just savored the views in all directions, a most enjoyable time.

We haven't been in nearly a decade -- time to try it again. Fond memories of kids having fun in the pool and their parents trying to keep them quiet. One of best features is the wonderful view that at night is nothing but inky blackness.

Great to see you and Caroline back on the island, Jeff! Is this a working vacation? Jeff-the-Builder villa projects we'll be reading about? You're confusing us by starting at Le Toiny!

Ooops! I wrote my note as I was contemplating lunch and must have been distracted by thinking of the Toiny brunch!

This was probably our favorite meal of the trip. Very high quality food, very economical all things considered, and a great atmosphere. The only caveat is that it's very heavy on the seafood. If you don't eat things that swim, it might not be quite as appealing.

We love dinner at Le Gaiac, in fact we are gong tonight. We have never tried the brunch but after Jeff's review we might try it on Sunday.

Tonight? Did you say tonight?

I am having a craving for the black truffle spaghetti. In reality, we will be having meat loaf at home!

Amy the black truffle spaghetti was fabulous last night. Unfortunately my venison was mediocre.

Hooray for the spaghetti. As for the new chef, Mr Revelant, I think he will blossom 'in time.'

Chef Mazieres certainly left an awfully high bar to match. Some of our best meals ever were from his kitchen. You just don't find that level of culinary skill easily or very often and I think Toiny will be back up there again.

Just entering that dining room is a charge for me-I expect good service and good food and all in all the makings for a special night. That is why it is still a date night destination for us.

We will, of course, go back. This past trip we had a lovely lunch there and next trip we are thinking of revisiting for their brunch
