US Air/Winair Connection in SXM

US Air is now requiring 90 minutes for the Winair to US Air connection in SXM. They changed my Winair flights because I only had 85 minutes for the connection. Now I have three hours.

Is that required on arrival or departure?

Since we haven't been back since 2011, I am dreading trying to make arrangements for this year...I will most likely call USAir as we are SO accustomed to checking bags straight through....it has always been so easy compared to reading these horror stories of trying to make connections, etc. Tim, I can't believe that they changed your flights or a 5 minutes difference! As I said, it all sounds like a nightmare to me right now

To add insult to injury, I had booked the reservations eleven months prior to the change.

Hi, the policy was always 90 minutes from Winair to US Airways, from US Airways to Winair, the time is still 60 Minutes. This has to do with closure of the flights

I have no problem with the 90 minute minimum connection time, but US Air booked the flights. They should not have booked an illegal connection.

What is your connection with Winair?

I'm glad you brought this topic up, Tim. When I try to book online US Air - Winair the USAir site blocks the itinerary. Do you have to book over the phone? Also, when you book the flights together, can you print your homebound USAir boarding passes before leaving SBH, either at the villa or via the Winair agent at St-Jean Gustav III? I was blocked from printing the USAir legs this trip, but I booked the Winair flights separately.

Yes, you have to book by phone, but they waive the fee(you can also use a service like Orbitz). Yes, you can print your homebound US Air boarding passes before leaving SBH, but I've discovered that Winair can print them if I don't check in on line.

I don't know why you were blocked from printing separately purchased US Air boarding passes as I used to do it all the time.

I am wondering if it is now 90 minutes each way. I have a 1:21 arrival at SXM on USAir. I was scheduled to depart on a 2:15 WinAir flight to SBH but they just changed it to 3:00.

I was able to book all of the way through to SBH with Orbitz. Could not do so online with USAir or Travelocity. Did not try calling USAir as Tim suggests. That is probably the best thing to do.

I have my fingers crossed that I can still check my bags through to SBH. The USAir website shows SBH as my final destination so I think I will be able to do so.

From your schedule above, it appears you had less than 60 minutes for your SXM to SBH connection.

Typed too fast. Original WinAir flight departed at 2:25 (not 2:15). 64 minute layover. WinAir departure times are never exact anyway, so it is really academic. It is, after all, island time.
