Had a visitor last night. Came home from Pablo’s last night, excellent experience. Found this little guy right in the middle of our living room. So lucky not to have stepped on him. Grabbed

two thick pieces of paper, slid it on and relocated it to deep in the garden. Did not know the island had scorpions.

Scorpions we all know, and nobody wants to be stung by one. I haven’t seen one of them on SBH. What freaks me out is the not-as-well-known 10” giant centipede, Scolopendra Gigantea. I’ve had them in a villa twice, both on occasions when my sister in law and brother in law were staying with us, and found under their bed (I had nothing to do with that. I like my SIL and BIL). I want nothing to do with the Scolopendra. The two that I found, are, at least to me, Kill, not Relocate. You do not want to be bitten by a scolopendra.

After the Scolopendra, I wasn’t bothered much by the tortoise which chose leave a deuce under the couch, despite the required cleanup. It was gently relocated to a nice garden setting, and I fed it a Hibiscus flower.

I have been bitten by the giant centipede when living in Barbados as a child. I still remember the pain 40 years later.

Years ago staying in a small villa comprised of 3 buildings in Colombier, after dinner out, discovered what I thought was a scorpion on a bedroom drapery panel, husband already asleep, sat on end of bed & watched that damn thing for hours not knowing what to do. Too late to contact owner on same property...I whacked it at some point, showed it to owner the next day, who made light of what it was. Never went back to that villa!

I saw a dead one on our porch once, but never a live one. New fear unlocked!

We have Arizona Bark Scorpions here in the desert. The deadliest scorp for the elderly and infants. Had 7 in the house over 10 years. One stung our daughter on her finger and our Boston Terrier has been nailed twice in the face. The pain is like an ongoing electrical shock.
