Updated Parking Across From Anglican Church

Not a bad idea... but the next question is where do the valets actually put the cars; and of course people who live here don't want to pay for valet parking every time they go into Gustavia.

People who visit and like to eat dinner in Gustavia don't want to pay for valet parking, either. Esp. if they have active memories of OG SBH. Whoever came up with Park & Chill is a malevolent genius.

Driving from Le Repaire toward Le Select, it will be done in the last block that leads up to & dead ends at Le Select . . . . places like watch stores, Chamade, Clic, & the currency exchange shop along the block.
Wow - that's a pretty tight street, how are they going to make pull in parking and also have a sidewalk? Need to see a rendition I guess in order to picture it.

1. I thought P&C has an empty lot on Sam Fberg they use for parking ?
2. In my experience: sometimes the main public lot has availability; sometimes we find a street spot in town; often we park near hospital; sometimes we pony up for the valet.
3. On those occasions we're going to spend 400€ or more at L'Isola or Mamo for dinner, for example, the 25€ for valet is annoying but only for a moment . . . and if it's raining I'm happy to jump out of the car at Mamo's front door 😎

Maybe that space should not be for parking but be a loading/unloading zone only for valets, taxis, thoughtful (obedient) husbands dropping off their beautiful wives shod in the Louboutins, etc
One day, maybe, I'll find me one of those. In the meantime, I like my parking spots, no matter what it takes to get into them. Perhaps, however, there should be a designated taxi stand in Gustavia at night, maybe near the post office, but it would have to be set up so as not to block ambulances. The mess outside Bagatelle late at night is kind of silly.

So a reduction of human space to accommodate more vehicles.. While I appreciate the "remodel" I fail to see why vehicles warrant premium waterfront access especially at a reduction of public enjoyment areas.
as I read in an article online:
"The rich folks bought the view.
The locals paid the cost."

another thing regarding some sniping about net number of spaces gained: these cars are completely out of the roadway, so the new arrangement is much superior for traffic flow and access to the hospital.

with the existing stationnement sauvage, the cars are half on sidewalk, half blocking roadway. crazy.

and as to the 450,000€ project cost: as a GC, 450K sounds like a very modest number to me.

The more I think about it....I'm picturing the traffic jam outside of Le Cafe and Bagatelle around midnight. Why isn't there a dedicated taxi line, where you all have to be ready to go or have to wait for the next cab (NOT: hold this cab, my friend is still inside, I don't care if we're blocking the whole street, she's coming....)? If there was a logical place - from a traffic flow point of view - to put a taxi stand where people had to line up and know cabs were going to be coming back, not crowded outside those places blocking the street, wouldn't that be safer and more efficient? And make it illegal to stop in the street in front of the restaurants to wait for pick-ups (except for disability cases).

I have a distant memory of the beach at the head of the harbor. Wasn’t a swimming spot. Dinghies, trash, oil bottles, etc. Beach.
Hard to imagine now.
