April Wedding Planning

My best guess is that the inability to send Bruza93 a private message is a “feature” of the forum’s software. I don’t know for certain about the XenForo software, and with the site’s new owners I don’t have anyone to ask, but it is common for forum software to have restrictions on private messages to/from “new” members. “New“ can be defined in many ways, sometimes age - how long a user has been a member - sometimes the number of posts that a new member has made, or perhaps something else. This is not something that the site’s Moderators can see or change.

To Bruza93 - Didier is a known and trusted on-island person.

yes, most likely that is the reason....no worries, not a big deal...will speak with the wp. thanks

Whirlwind 7 days! Stayed at villa The One as basecamp. Monday we had food tasting and mixologist at the villa. They arrived at 11 and did not depart until 5 p m. Extremely happy with both of outfits. Food was amazing!!! Saw reception venue both during the day and at night, beautiful. DJ was squared away along with flowers. Visited the following for either welcome party or rehearsal dinner; Cheval Blanc, Nikki Beach, Mamo, Le Toiny, Bonito and Tamarin. I visited Gumbs, SBC and SBE. Event transport will be with Discovery, had not ever seen that number of private vans or taxis. Looked for La Pinta rum at several shops and was told only Le Repaire has it. Secure 50-100 small bottles for gift bags and they will label it with the wedding logo. Girls even found time to shop Fri and Sat.

Well done . . . you have another career as an event planner! Sounds like no stone is unturned!

Update: We are now 60 days out! All the venues a set as well as staff for the reception dinner and recovery day. Current confirmed guest count is 114 with room for another 6 we are waiting to hear a "yes" from. Formal invitations go out this week. Contacted SBC to see if they can add another flight on the 15th for a few that are late to book. I am using Tropical shipping to get the guest weeding takeaways to the island, Had forgotten about them but members on here helped out. Used them 20+ years ago to ship furniture from there back to the States. Priests are booked, with one arriving from S FL and two from Rome to preform the vows. More to follow.

Countdown has begun. shipped everything we did not want to transport, through Tropical this morning, very cost effective! 75 bottles of La Pinta are wanting for pick up to apply wedding logo to each one. 116 guests are confirmed.

Sounds like "so far, so good!" I hope that all continues to go smoothly!

A different kind of journey & hoping for pictures on the days you've planned so carefully...so that the only 'hitch' is when they say 'I do' ! Thanks for your taking us along on the arrangements!

My first wedding was on St Croix in October 1968, flowers for the ladies were from the garden, the best man sang the Lord's Prayer & a lovely dinner in Frederiksted followed by a brief honeymoon on St John.

Sounds like a memorable time, Nancy . . . tradition and a nod to an anthem of the day ("San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)") . . . the "Summer of Love!"

All systems are go! Touch down at SBH @2:30 tomorrow. Planners are already on the island, shipped items arrived and through customs. 112 guests confirmed. Did not give too much thought to transporting ladies gowns! Wedding dress weighs around 30#s and is 6' tall. No, I have not seen it, that happens Sat. Somehow we will get everything to the basecamp. Photos up, if I have time. We are off to Africa 3 days after the event.

… More of my favorite music! I am a 60’s flower child through and through!

Late update; Main group arrived on Tuesday and settled into to Blanc Bleu. Dinner for 13 at Eddies the first evening. Most of the next day was filled with last minute errands with dinner at L'Isola that night for 10, very good. Dance floor was also getting built/started, a first for this villa. Thursday was more of the same with the rehearsal dinner for 50 at Le Toiny. By Friday most of the guests were on island and welcome reception from 6-9 at Nikki Beach, very nice. Sat was the big event so lots of hair and make up people all over the place. Wedding was at the Catholic church just off the harbour in Gustavia. Service was officiated with 3 Fathers, one from Miami and 2 from Rome, magical. Reception for 110 was at the villa. Decided at the last minute (Friday) to put a tent over the dance floor as the forecast was iffy. Dinner service finished and the party got going. Rained/poured at 11 for about 3 minutes, guess the tent was a good idea! Sunday was a pool party with about 80 guests, some folks had Sunday flights and could not attend. Monday was a chill day and prepack for Tues departure. The bride informed me that most of the items I had shipped down on Tropical, she wanted to take back to the States. All in with boxes and luggage we were at 27 pieces! Made 2 runs to SBH and SBC were able to get them all on several planes. At SXM AA was very helpful as we had the entire front of the aircraft booked. All in all, it could not have gone any better!

Photos and Video are being edited now, so will post once I have them.
