Nyama

In an impulsive move last week, I detoured out of Gustavia to Corossol at lunch . . . hopeful of finding a seat at Nyama. The patio seating was full, but I was warmly (no pun intended) welcomed to a wonderful indoor table under the AC . . . refreshing!

The restaurant is cheerfully colorful & inviting . . . as well as refined in its Pan-Asian cuisine, emphasizing Vietnamese fundamentals.

i enjoyed a starter of Nems with chicken, which I wrapped in crisp, fresh Romain lettuce leaves

Main course was lightly “dressed” noodles with peanuts & shrimp . . . a lovely, light mid-afternoon choice.

Knowing Chef Clément & his very sweet, charming wife, Túti, from their prior lives at Orega (now the location of Mamo . . . previously Le Sapotillier &, briefly, “B4”), there's always a welcoming greeting when I see them. It’s a cultural style,, nonetheless, that every visitor will feel as the Vietnamese translation of Nyama intends — “Mom’s House!”

. . . off the “beaten path,” but a very special place for food, service, gracious staff, & authenticity in its platform.

last time there, we received charming lessons on the etymology of the dish pho and on the correct pronunciation of Tûti's name.

Hi! Does that also mean the indoor A/C part is sort of non-smoking? That would be a blessing and if so, I’ll give it a try again.

Interesting question, Jamie . . . there were “locals” at two other tables when I sat down, & they were not smoking. I also do not recall ashtrays on the “indoor” tables.

Hiya! I asked about it and the nice kids working there told me it was their “non-smoking” section…
