Thinking of just decompressing for a week or two in second half of April...any cheap (relative) 1BR villas or rooms on the beach...I know the island very well...just need clean, safe, and great internet service...nothing fancy...just need my sun, exercise, chilled atmosphere, and maybe a few cute French ladies to ogle over...

Please share what you find!

I do not know about French ladies, but maybe Saline Garden Cottages property will fit the under 17K bill? It's not on the beach, but it is about 15 minutes walk to Saline, and 3 great restaurants even closer. And who knows, there could be some cute French ladies in the next cottage...

that sounds interesting...I do like the French ladies...they just have a vibe that American women don't...sorry...lol

Just looked up...does anyone have experience with hotel le village in St. Barths...in St. Jean...I think I've been there...

yes...never stayed there...but one evening walked in just to check the place out....we were dining at the casual Italian restaurant just below it...forgot the name...one of the first places to show the Amerrican Super Bowl...

We’ve stayed at Hotel Le Village several times, just for a few days when flight and villa dates didn’t line up well. It was formerly known as Village St Jean. The only downside that I recall is that the walk uphill from the beach is enough to work off dessert. (Perhaps that’s not really a downside.)

I agree with Kevin. We never walked the hill when we stayed the year post Irma. However what a delightful venue to stay at.

Stayed once in the one bedroom when the villa wasn't available on arrival day. A bit of road noise, but otherwise a wonderful stay.

Le Village is not on the beach, but just up the hill. You also have Tropical Hotel next door, which is also great. For truly on the beach in St Jean, I would recommend a cottage at Les Ilets de la Plage. Simple, but great value. You could also try Baie des Anges on Flamands beach.

For less expensive on the beach there is Les Mouettes on the beach in Lorient https://residence-lesmouettes-sbh.com/
We’ve stayed at Les Mouettes several times over the years. We spent more on dinner each night than we paid for the bungalow. The bungalows are small, inexpensive, and basic, with no frills, but they are on the beach. There is a bedroom, a bathroom, with an outside kitchenette and sitting/dining area. For the times that we stayed there, it was everything that we needed. My recollection is that they may now have minimum stay requirements.

Easy walking to La Petite Colombe, Jojo Burger, and Monoprix grocery, with La Licorne, and Oasis (Le Bouchon, U Express, Boulangerie Choisy, and others) being a longer walk.
