Getting 2 people and 8 bags to SBH; options

What is the BEST option? I fly in the day before with the wedding party, 2 charters. The event planers arrive 4/15 with items we need to bring from the States. I already emailed Ocean Must to see if he can do a pick up. Ferry is the last option.
I will update the wedding thread later this week.

2 people and 8 bags - wouldn't another airline charter work for that as well? If the sea is rough they might not like that option?

Yes, just trying to stop the $$$$ bleeding.
Having just been on a cruise in this area, I will tell you that the seas are very high and the water is rough now; we had to skip Saba and come directly to SBH (a win for me personally) but we have been all over the Caribbean this week and the very last thing you want is anyone getting seasick; I have NEVER been seasick on any boat, car, train, plane until Day 1 on the cruise from SXM to Antigua, and it is was worse than having a baby, trust me...

But a couple of trips ago, we needed to get off the island to get to SXM for our plane home as the little planes had no wind (yes, it can happen!) so we hired West Indies helicopter from SBH to SXM and they took the 2 of us and 6 bags. It has to be cheaper than chartering a plane. It was a great adventure, so you should check it out.

luggagefree.com is extremely expensive. cannot believe anyone would use them

why not use tropical shipping out of miami and have someone on island pick up your bags, most likely would not cost over 200 dollars to ship plus 5 percent duty charges. if you wish to send me a private message, I have some inside info. tried to message you and the site says you cannot receive messages. interesting.

Yes they are expensive but they also make things VERY easy with scheduled pickups and they are reliable.

I checked from miami to saint barths with luggagefree.com and the price was around 260 dollars per bag. multiply that times 8 bags and you're talking real money. this person seems to want to stop the $$$$ bleeding.

Thanks for the help; LuggageFree was +$2K Helicopter was $1450 Tropical shipping out of Miami was under $200. I just need to drop them at their warehouse and pick them up at the port when I arrive. 4 days for them to cross.

Please keep in mind that you will need to take the bill of lading to Tropical Shipping's office in St Jean, then go to the custom's duty office at the commercial dock to pay your 5% import duty tax before you pick up your merchandise - making sure to have the correct invoice - but I imagine Tropical explained all that already?

All of which you say, Ellen, also is my understanding. But, for purposes of "5% import duty," how does one establish a value on used personal items that will be accepted by the droit de quai?

some used goods may be exempt, even for such items there needs to be some sort of invoice with a value you can assign to the items - if not they take the boxes to the customs office to have it evaluated, which one tries to avoid having happen. In this case, not sure what Bruza93 is shipping .... new or used?

I do not know what is being shipped, other then they are items the wedding planners can not find on the island. I will ask the bride to be once she returns from Napa on Monday. I was only asked to see how to get them there.

Yes, Tropical Shipping is the way to go. It is very reasonably priced and reliable. You must have invoices for those products being shipped into St. Barth. A typed list will not do. It's not Tropical who is so sticky, its the customs office.
