Restaurant questions and recommendations

Greetings!

My fiancé and I will be arriving in St. Barts Monday June 16th and we will be there for 7 nights.
I have been to St. Barts 3 times before, but's it's been 10 years already!

We will be dining at Tamarin and Eddy's for sure. Are reservations recommended? If so, how far in advance?
We would like to go to Fish Corner, probably for lunch since there dinner hours are limited in the summer. Of course we will go to Le Select at least once.

As far as recommendations, I would like a few more dinner and lunch recommendations. Not looking for the fanciest or most expensive places. More interested in mid range prices. Places that you highly recommend for fun, good service and great food without breaking the bank.

If you’re going to be in a Villa, I highly recommended spending quality time there . . . at least once for each of lunch & dinner. If you’re not people who like to cook, you still have great local sources for carry out items to enjoy “at home.” Many memories found in SBH restaurants, but there are equally special — maybe longer lasting! — times found in villa living.

Yes, we have a villa in the Pointe Milou area. We will definately have a few meals there. Besides Tamarin and Eddy's we will probably one dine out for dinner one or two other times. Lunch will be about the same mix, dine out about 3 or 4 times, eat at the villa 3 or 4 times.

Yep, that is why I'm looking at mid range prices for other restaurants.

Search here for Casina. La Casina is a new Italian restaurant in St Jean that is getting good reviews on both food and moderate (for St Barth) pricing.

Fish Corner good idea.
Le Piment is economical, has nice mix or locals and tourists, and the simple cuisine is consistently satisfying.
L'Isoletta is affordable and good.
Ti Corail a fun lunch with toes in the sand and won't break the bank.

Cantina in Gustavia is pretty good for a harbor view lunch. We did Le Bouchon for lunch and also dinner after we learned that pizza is at night only.

Definitely lunch at Fish Corner. Burger at Jojo’s. Lunch at Le Jardin. Kiki e Mo. Pearl is the cheapest on St Jean beach. Creperie, Le Repaire, L’Isoletta, Black Ginger are some of the mid tier spots we like. Eden to go or a rotisserie chicken, a loaf of bread, some cheese and a bag of mache and a bottle of wine on the terrace of the villa is hard to beat. No cooking required to eat in.

Ti Corail is our favorite. Toes in sand, amazing fresh catch of the day cooked to perfection by Yann the gracious owner, lovely waitstaff and view that is stunning. Reservation required and parking iffy but well worth it.
We also love sitting at Le Select eating an okay burger, sipping a cold Heineken and watching the world go by.
Great local hang out.

All good suggestions. I have seen ads for 3 course menus at La Casina (though reviews have been mixed) and Black Ginger at set prices for summer, along with regular offerings I assume. We are fans of Baz Bar, L'Isoletta, and of course Nyama and Ti Corail. Unfortunately Nyama will be closed that week. Mi Brasa is another mid-range option in town. We enjoyed a few meals there during it's first season though have not been back in the past year+. Has anyone been lately?

I would second/third Le Jardin, Kiki e Mo and Ti Corail. We sometimes grab sandwiches from Kiki e Mo and head across the street to have lunch on the beach.

Burgers at JoJo. I’d recommend Mi Brasa as well. And I second Dennis’s comment about eating a meal at the villa, nice not to worry about getting out and just getting to relax and enjoy view/music/each other

The “run” of Jojo’s is pretty amazing! When Jojo started it (I can hardly remember when it wasn’t there), I know that he intended a local, inexpensive, hangout for “locals” & people coming off the beach (at the time, mostly young, local surfers). It was a “hit” from Day 1 — not always “packed,” but very much like a Club of “the usual suspects.” I wax nostalgically about it because, as I say . . . I can’t remember a time without Jojo or Jojo’s. As recollections are told of SBH, it’s indelible in my mind.

Mi Brasa . . . reportedly sold by Bar de L’Oubli’s Nik Nemegyei (not someone I know well, but always a gentleman when we meet). A “corporate” buyer, I’m told.

Villa comfort at dinner . . . again, repeating myself (merci etx!) — not to be overlooked, lasting memories that surpass even SBH’S alternative great dining venues.

Curious. Who is the "he" of Jojo's? I assume a variation of the name. Also, was he responsible for the same named former market?

"He" would be Georges "JoJo" Berry, a Saint Barth native who ran the eponymous supermarket until it closed to make way for the new building and Monoprix... Not sure he actually runs the burger joint on a day-to-day basis, I think he rents it out even though it bears his name... interestingly it's next to the cemetery where French rocker Johnny Hallyday is buried and his nickname was also JoJo (as noted previously on the forum) so a lot of the visitors from France who come to pay homage to their idol think the burger joint was named after him!
